Moontanman Posted November 10, 2014 Author Report Posted November 10, 2014 Does the coin have the same weight than the magnet? Pretty close, the aluminum diamagnetism is what levitates the magnet, I'm not completely sure why spinning the can magnifies this effect. Quote

Moontanman Posted November 11, 2014 Author Report Posted November 11, 2014 Thunderf00t will get around to explaining it after he's had his fun, I'll keep you guys posted... Quote
CraigD Posted November 12, 2014 Report Posted November 12, 2014 Cool video! Peadogogically, we should ask: why does the spinning aluminum can levitates the magnet? Answer:moving the aluminum through the magnetic field of the magnet induces a current in it. The current generates a magnetic field, which repels the magnet Clue: The video mentions that the levitation is "like a maglev train". It's not, however, like just any maglev train, but like the old (late 1990s) and to the best of my knowledge not yet implemented in a full-size system, Inductrack system.
