All you that want to go to university to study neuroscience to make a nervegear-like device, check out this free (as in beer) course offered by Harvard on the topic.
I haven't done it, and Reddit is hugging it to death right now so hopefully it works for you. Perhaps its a starting point for a couple of you guys.

I can vouch for this. I've done the first lesson(1 hour per lesson). Its very good. Good for all levels.
