fahrquad Posted January 1, 2017 Report Posted January 1, 2017 I find the use and abuse of the the Gadsden flag, designed by South Carolinian native, politician, delegate to the Continental Congress, and Brigadier General in the Continental Army during the revolutionary war despicable. More in next post since I am new to creating a thread and can't seem to get that file to load properly. Quote
fahrquad Posted January 1, 2017 Author Report Posted January 1, 2017 The Gadsden flag was very briefly used as the flag for the newly declared United States of America during the Revolutionary War. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christopher_Gadsden Quote
fahrquad Posted January 1, 2017 Author Report Posted January 1, 2017 Although I resent the use of a flag that belongs to the state and the people of South Carolina by rednecks and hate groups, I did find this one amusing and quite topical. http://www.democraticunderground.com/10028420175#post1 CraigD 1 Quote
fahrquad Posted January 1, 2017 Author Report Posted January 1, 2017 (edited) I cringe every time I see a Gadsden flag and a Confederate battle flag flying from the bed of a pick-up truck. Those two flags should never be flown together, since they represent completely different ideals, although some ignorant individuals seem to intertwine their limited intellect around the basic idea of freedom without understanding the rationale behind either disparate movement. fahrquad Posted January 1, 2017 Author Report Posted January 1, 2017 (edited) Although many different flags, banners, and jacks were used during the Civil War, as far as I am concerned the "First National" is the flag of the Confederate States (CSA): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flags_of_the_Confederate_States_of_America Edited January 1, 2017 by fahrquad Quote
fahrquad Posted January 1, 2017 Author Report Posted January 1, 2017 Although Betsy Ross is credited with creating the US flag in 1776, the first documented use of the flag was in 1792. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Betsy_Ross_flag Quote
