petrushkagoogol Posted February 8, 2017 Report Posted February 8, 2017 Here are two new software ideas that could drive innovation : Multimodal logistics management - Depending upon available sealanes, roadways, train stations and container size, number of transporters in the vicinity and cost-effectiveness we can have an integral logistical solution across multiple transportation options. Intelligent ATMs - You can program the ATM to dispense based on an OTP password valid for 24 hours and to block your cash and prevent others from withdrawing what you have already booked. It would facilitate cash dispensation. Could these prove useful ? :vava: :vava: :vava: :vava: Quote
BrainJackers Posted February 10, 2017 Report Posted February 10, 2017 Almost everything can be useful. The question is if it's useful enough to pursue? The first one sounds interesting enough but I believe people already have a system to do such. Is it optimized and perfect? I doubt so. Does it exist and work reasonably well? Yes. How much money would it take to develop the new system, how long would we have to wait? How much gain does it give us? Who has the abilities to deploy it? It'll be hard to get shipping companies to listen and I doubt consumers will want a multi-mode system. How would you set the OTP? With a device? Maybe something like... like a 4 digit passcode paired with your ID card... something shaped like a business card? </sarcasm> PIN technologies exist for a reason. Your system might be better, but PIN systems have been proven and are a standard. It comes back to whether or not the gain outweighs the cost (people switching, new tech installed, new card issued, time to make...) Now. Both of these sound great. It could help with the world's economic infrastructure. You could do these things if you had money/corporate backing, yet unless you do, assuming your project isn't revolutionary, it'll be hard to get out there, making your time a waste. This post has been a downer. Sorry about that :C I wish you luck with any projects you take! --@Kayaba(This is a representative account for a BCI VR group, but I thought this was an interesting topic. :) Still computer science.)
