Destiny (As A Product Of Restrictions)

What you end up doing in life is a product of restrictions, rather than a product of choices (if you see it that way).

 

Some restrictions could be viewed as macro level limitations :

  1. A man cannot visit all the major cities in all countries in a lifetime.
  2. A man cannot marry all the eligible women in all countries in a lifetime.
 

Some restrictions could be viewed as micro level limitations :

  1. If all your ancestors were short it is unlikely that you will be tall.
  2. If you are qualified as an actuary it is unlikely that you will succeed as a space scientist.
If all such limitations are quantified it defines a life path (destiny) (without referring to astrology).

 

Using the age old cliche it is not how full the glass is, rather it is how empty it is (alluding to the non-exercisable options in life) that govern what course our life takes.
