How Can I Read A Document On One Screen And Paste Onto Another?

My son is being driven nuts by a requirement which seems obvious, but he can't find how to do it. Using windows 10 and MS Word, he needs to scan a document and copy and paste text onto another screen/networked computer. Obviously he can copy and paste into another tab on the same screen, but he wants multiple screens so that he can extract pieces of text and display them on two or more screens at the same time.

 

We are both puzzled why this is not a standard requirement. Any ideas?

Maybe use the Windows Remote Desktop Connection? Just guessing though as I don't use Windows 10 and it may not be available on that version.

Windows will do this, but there is additional hardware involved for "multiple screens." Turtle's solution is one solution that simply requires a second computer and a network link between them. An alternative requires you to have a video card that supports two monitors and plug two of them in (some higher end PC's come with dual monitor connections on them, but most don't. Multi-monitor video cards are quite common though). If you have a laptop, you also often have both its display and a monitor port on the back that you can plug a second display into.

 

Once you have two displays connected Windows 10 (and further back) will recognize the second screen (note you can have more if you have more video cards), and you can right click on the desktop and click Display Settings and the window that opens will show you the displays you have connected: you can set them up in various ways in the pulldown at the bottom of that page that is labeled "Multiple Displays"

 

As usual, it's always possible to do something like you want, but it's not exactly right and it's virtually impossible to find.

Thanks for the reply. On further discussion, actually my problem was I wanted to open a hyperlink in a different tablet computer to the one showing the hyperlink.

Since my tablet has a cellular radio and my cellular provider provides a mechanism that sends an email as a text message to any phone number in their network, I do this all the time. A little baroque, but if it's a long and "machine-readable" URL, it can be a lifesaver! :cheer:
