The brain is located beneath he skull.  Outside the skull, there is another area beneath the scalp.

1.  What is the area between the skull and the scalp called - its scientific name?

2.  Neuroscience for Dummies describes part of the activity in that area thus:  "Another kind of electrical stimulation is transcranial magnetic stimulation. (TMS).  TMS uses a strong, pulsed magnetic  field, generated just outside the skull to produce localized currents within the brain areas underneath the coil.  What, pray tell, is the "coil"?

Thank you.

The coil is part of the TMS equipment.

Oh, thank you.  Good to get the answers so readily.  Did you find those online?  I didn't know what to Google without the name.  The diagrams are wonderful.  Appreciate your help.
