Maine farmer Posted October 18, 2017 Report Posted October 18, 2017 (edited) The company we purchase bull semen from offers sexed semen, and I believe they sort it by the difference in mass, since the x chromosome has more. if you run semen through a centrifuge the sperm with the heavier x chromosomes will be propelled outward more than the ones with the y chromosomes. Some sperm are damaged by the process and there is a reduced conception rate using sexed semen. But I don't think that was what the question was. Of course the y chromosome only comes from the father, so an infant can only get the y chromosome from the father. Under natural circumstances the gender is determined mostly by probability and the proportion of y chromosomes put out by the father. It's all in the wrist, :phones:BuffyEww. I did not need that image in my head. Of course under natural conception methods wrist action is not generally needed. Edited October 18, 2017 by Farming guy dak2552 and Buffy 2 Quote
