How does IBM Watson respond to a query that is sometimes true, sometimes false, like "Are there purple roses" ?    (natural roses are not purple, genetically modified ones could occur.)

While IBM marketing loves to anthropomorphize Watson, there are many Watsons for many different purposes now. And while Watson does have much in the way of breakthrough machine learning, it also has a lot of more traditional AI programmed "domain knowledge," along with a crap-ton of hardware to make up for it's lack of knowledge and imperfect learning.

 

So the answer is really simply, "it depends."

 

The Jeopardy Watson would probably say, "that's a Jeopardy answer, not a question."
