petrushkagoogol Posted March 14, 2018 Report Posted March 14, 2018 Is life like a game of chess, where the person who wins is not the one who gets all the moves right, but none wrong ? (there is a very subtle difference between the two). Mathematically - If P(success) is the probability of getting a task right then, at any point in life when confronted with decisions, P(success) > 0.50 ensures that life remains on the right track. It is not necessary that P(success) = 1. Decisions can be sub-optimal, but not bad enough to derail onward progress. Do you agree ? Quote
Maine farmer Posted March 18, 2018 Report Posted March 18, 2018 Not at all. The number of possible moves on a chess board is far smaller than the number of possible moves in life. One of my favorite quotes from one of James Harriot's books is, "Where there's life, there's hope." Quote
