Earth conductivity

The report cited below indicates that the conductivity of rock changes as a function of pressure, but the

conductivity is not the result of free electrons but due to positive holes (p-holes) released from the

crystalline structure. This indicates that within the earth there are slow but constant pressure changes

that can contribute to changing earth conductivity. The sudden pressure changes during an earthquake

cause extreme changes in conductivity.

 

The earth currents generated during the Chi Chi earthquake are estimated to have been from 10^6 to

10^ 8 amps.

 

Note the battery effect, but don't expect to hook up a wire to get a source of electricity.
