I think of gravity as being weaker simply because of the E=mc^2 ratio.

 

Mass, if you want to think of gravity as a curvature of spacetime (I don't see the difference between following a straight path in curved spacetime and following a curved path in flat spacetime) causes an inward curvature that pulls objects together (gr) and energy causes an outwards curvature that pushes objects apart (sr), x c^2 of the inward curvature of mass.

 

Either way you're creating a curved path that is experienced as length contraction and time dilation when compared to objects following a straight path.
