hazelm Posted May 18, 2018 Report Posted May 18, 2018 (edited) https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2018/05/180517113856.htm If this belongs in Sociology, please move it. Thank you. We are constantly hearing that social isolation leads to emotional and physical problems like depression, dementia, etc. But we almost never hear evidence of what is really going on and what might be done about it. Usually it's just a doctor giving a pill and people smilingly chanting "cheer up", "smile", "don't be negative", etc. Now we have some concrete evidence of what is going on and what they might do to correct one angle of the problem. Sometimes, there is no correction for social isolation. That is just how it is and will be. These scientists seem to have found "one small step" to treatments that may help in living with the situation. Dare we hope? Edited May 18, 2018 by hazelm Quote
