It seems that with advances in Artificial Organs that Cyborgization may be coming soon to this world where instead of using transplants, artificial organs that are cybernetic replace the organs which could last longer and be more durable than the standard cell based versions while doing their functions better than even the original organs could.

Coincidentally, I was reading Isaac Asimov's "The Bicentenial Man" the other day.  The protagonist, an robot named Andrew, developed artificial organs to extend the lives of human with the intent of making himself more human.  Here is the pdf of the short story if you are interested.  It is only 39 pages long but worth the read if you are interested in this topic.  Don't be surprised if your eyes water a bit at the end.
