Is it just me or are the forums loading _very_ slowly now? I have a new version installed on my dev server (it is way quicker, I think)but wanted tohold ituntil the rest of the site is finished. But now it takes extremely long for me to get the pages up...

Could be that I'm sitting in Norway. Do you guys get good response times? Are the forums loading fast or slow?

very fast for me.

seems my life as of late. lots of stuff going on. I will try to find some time to get a current news story to you, as soon as I get a chance to sit down for a few minutes and play catch up.

No sweat...in the ideal world there would be 25 hours every day. No wait, they have that on Mars! So is Mars the ideal world?

Anyways...if others have any comments on the speed of the forums, please let me know!

They're slow compared to other forums that ive visited, but havent visited many (10 max).

I use internet explorer 6.0 provided by aol. From the UK @ 56k dial up

Yeah, I think the lines over from Europe are the bottlenecks here. People over in the states never complain (the server is in Arizona).

Do you get the header graphics first and then you have to wait I while? That's what happens to me.

However, in Mozilla and Opera the pages load instantly.

Actually, this is what happens: I mouse over to a link, like a forum topic, and it would take a few seconds before it gets "highlighted". Then after a page has loaded, and I scroll down, I have to wait a few seconds before anything happens. I'm using Mozilla Firefox, what browser do you use?

Huh. That's strange. I use IE, Firefox, Mozilla, Opera (because I need to make sure everything works).

I never experienced that...sounds like you got spyware or something. Does it happen in other places at Hypography.com? Could you check out the different sections (news, links etc) and see if it happens there too?

most times speed is ok, but once in a while it gets a little sloppy.

I do have another question: Can you make the pop-ups in which a reply is typed a requested pop-up?

Every time i write a reply now i have to turn off my pop-up blocker.... (and yes i'm lazy)

At work, I am on a T1. At home a cable network (Road Runner). Both offer great bandwidth. This site tends to lag slightly intitially, seems to be waiting for the banner server. Same with finalizing the page.

Occasionally the home page layout is not correct. The list of articles is right of the Forums list, instead of in the middle.

There is usually a lag when selecting a form and it's starting to load. But once it starts, it is usually fast enough.

As for popups. For some reason Mozilla (1.5) understands the difference (I use the Quote alot) and does not blaock that popup. But does an incredible job of stopping ad type popups.

It is rare that this site is so slow that it times out or even gets annoying.

It must be that dry heat in Arizona!

I find it very strange. In IE the forums load extremely slow. In Firefox the pages pop up instantly. I have no explanation for this...

It seems like it's happening everywhere, in all sections, on Hypography.com, and this doesn't happen on other websites so I don't think I have spyware. But it's interesting how it's only slow for me, lol.

I think personal internet connections would be the main problem, the only way to really tell is the look at the "this page generated in x seconds" to see if the server is running slow.

That last one took .9 seconds, fast enough for me.
