InfiniteNow Posted February 13, 2006 Report Posted February 13, 2006 What is time??? Again, Time is Money! Basic economics... Nothing else you need to know :eek2: Great discussion by the way. Suppose I'd better stay OUT of the way!So time is a common medium of exchange which acts as a legal tender... Never thought of it that way myself, but interesting possibility indeed. :) Can time be traded? Quote
TheBigDog Posted February 13, 2006 Report Posted February 13, 2006 So time is a common medium of exchange which acts as a legal tender... Turtle Posted February 13, 2006 Report Posted February 13, 2006 ___Time is what it takes for me to mention Buckminster Fuller's view of time. I have read it again & again for the first time, & time after time it makes more sense to take the time to do so.:eek2: http://hypography.com/forums/watercooler/3398-buckminster-fuller-7.html http://www.rwgrayprojects.com/synergetics/s05/p2800.html#530.10 Quote
InfiniteNow Posted February 13, 2006 Report Posted February 13, 2006 I work for my employer. I trade my TIME and skills for wages. BillIt is a bit of an issue of semantics, as tasks are conducted over time, but is it not your tasks which are traded for wages? It's not like your boss says, "Hey, Bill, I will give you $20 for 20 minutes. Agreed?" They say, "I wll give you $20 for filing this, training them, and organizing that..." Is the distinction necessary, or is it all the same thing? Tasks and time? Quote
Racoon Posted February 13, 2006 Report Posted February 13, 2006 So if money is an exchange for work. This means time is Work. Not necessarily BluesMan. People don't always work with their time. Even if you're getting paid for the time your spending online at the office :) Time is still money though. Parking meters receive money for the time you park. Cell phones and long distance charge money for the Time you use. Rent or Mortgage is Time you bought to live there. When you pay for someones Tme, they usually provide a service. We constantly pay Time with money, or get money for our Time. You pay an electric bill with money, for the amount of Time you use it. and so on and so on... :eek2: I kinda' sidetracked the Scientifical discussion of Time; but regardless,,Time is Money :D Ask any Engineer or Lawyer or Banker or Dentist or Bus Driver or Retail Clerk. I guess its Time to get back to the Curved and dimensional aspect..:) Sorry for interupting the flow of Time on this thread... Quote
InfiniteNow Posted February 13, 2006 Report Posted February 13, 2006 Time is still money though.So... (to use but one formula) :eek2: Velocity = distance / money? and Distance = Velocity x Money? and Money = Distance / Velocity? :) Next time the girl you're dating asks to borrow $5, just tell her you'll give it to her in 5 days... Then, explain time is money so you've already given it to her. See what happens! :) I'd pay time to see that! :D Quote
infamous Posted February 13, 2006 Report Posted February 13, 2006 What is time??? That which never rests. That which waits on nobody. That which a young person has so much of.That which an old person is running out of.That which mankind wishes to control. That which has come with birth. That which has passed in death.....................Infy Quote
InfiniteNow Posted February 13, 2006 Report Posted February 13, 2006 Wow... Infy. That which is poetic. Quote
Racoon Posted February 13, 2006 Report Posted February 13, 2006 So... (to use but one formula) :eek2: Velocity = distance / money? and Distance = Velocity x Money? and Money = Distance / Velocity? :) I think InfiniteNow is on the right track! Money = Skills X Worktime M= S X W Time = Work X Compensation T = W X C ??? Lets get some Math guys to figure out the variables If Time = Money Quote
Racoon Posted February 13, 2006 Report Posted February 13, 2006 PS.. What kinda' Girl asks to borrow money on a date??? :eek2: especially if you pay for dinner? :) Quote
IrishEyes Posted February 13, 2006 Report Posted February 13, 2006 PS.. What kinda' Girl asks to borrow money on a date??? :eek2: especially if you pay for dinner? :)Uh-oh...Have you never seen "Breakfast At Tiffany's", my all time favorite movie? Ms. Golightly would often get as much as $50 on a date, for going to the 'powder room'. Evidently, it used to cost money just to spend a few minutes in the lil girls room. Now that's one for the math guys to figure out, eh? time in the bathroom X money = how much is acceptable to borrow on a date forgot to mention that in some countries, you actually do have to pay to use the loo. I can still remember my first night in Antallya, Turkey. I was appalled to discover that for a short time in their public restrooms, it would cost me almost 200,000 lira. Then I realized that it was less than a dollar, and it didn't bother me quite so much anymore. Quote
InfiniteNow Posted February 13, 2006 Report Posted February 13, 2006 Here take it, you should be used to women taking your money. Of course, personally, I think it'd be tacky to wear diamonds before I'm 40. It should take you 4 seconds to get from here to that door. I'll give you two. Ah... and since this thread is about time... does it cost more the longer you are in the loo? IrishEyes 1 Quote
infamous Posted February 14, 2006 Report Posted February 14, 2006 Ah... and since this thread is about time... does it cost more the longer you are in the loo?Excellent observation InfiniteN...........I think everone is familiar with seeing the long lines outside the ladies facilities in places like, for example; County fairs, Nascar races, Community Parks or any other organized outdoor activity where numerous people are in attendence. Never are the lines as long outside the mens facilities.................I think we could define this difference as efficiency Quote
InfiniteNow Posted February 14, 2006 Report Posted February 14, 2006 Never are the lines as long outside the mens facilities.................I think we could define this difference as efficiency Or, potentially... zippers? :eek2: Quote

InfiniteNow Posted February 14, 2006 Report Posted February 14, 2006 Time seems over and over again to be treated as a resource. That sums up several of the last pasts in this thread. A resource... Quote
