Turtle Posted August 25, 2005 Author Report Posted August 25, 2005 ___More game thoughts:___As suggested in a new thread about banning, this is Tormod's game. He may at any time take his ball & go home; just part of playing. :hihi: ___As a game, Hypography is somewhat unique in that it records every move. (For those of you who don't know, after reaching 1000 posts you receive the new ability to delete a move/post) Not only does one have the ability to review their own moves, but all the other players' moves as well. ___Voila! A well organized tool for strategy research (spying?)___The game is afoot! ;) Quote

Turtle Posted December 18, 2005 Author Report Posted December 18, 2005 ____Now thens; I just thunk this up. Hypography IS exactly what you need to test an artificial intelligence in accord with Allan Turring's seminal works.___In paraphrase, a person is set in front of a keyboard & a display (printer in Turring's day, monitor here) & they are told they are able to communicate with another "person" who is also situated with a keyboard & display for responses. The person then types in whatever they want, particularly in regard to questioning the other person & judging the response. Turring said, that if a person ( you, me, each one of us) can not tell a computer program from another "real" person based on this communication, then the computer program is "intelligent" Artificially Intelligent.___So, I am that program. Or am I? Or is one of you? Will the real AI please stand up? Fo shizzle ponizzle?:cup: Quote
Buffy Posted December 18, 2005 Report Posted December 18, 2005 I think you need to apply it to specific actors on Hypography. Now you Turtle are clearly a real human, as we've seen your hands spinning gizmos and flying kites in your videos. Moreover, your mystically existential posts are far too illogical to be computational (so said Mr. Spock). Tormod on the other hand is obviously a slightly modified version of Eliza... :cup: Giles: Quite extraordinary, really.Buffybot: Thank you. But I really think we should be listening to the other Buffy, Giles. She's very smart and she's gonna help us save Spike!Buffy: Listen, skirt girl, we are not going to save him. We're going to kill him. Buffybot: You're right. He's evil. But you should see him naked. I mean really! Bot-like,Buffybot Quote
Turtle Posted December 18, 2005 Author Report Posted December 18, 2005 ___"Right to the point...er counterpoint", said Turtle to Buffybot. "We shall make things say what we mean as we go."___Tormod is no Eliza, in the very least because you discounted my being Eliza by virtues of my photos etc.. Tormod, having such similar evidentiarries of his own, therefore is at the least as real as I. And yourself, Buffybot, for the exactly congruent reasons as Tormod & I, you too I take as real-ly real too.___Babble & jibber jabber aside, let us assume that at least one Hypography member is indeed not a human , but a program running on a machine. As you say, the question is then who, or is that whom? Mmmmm... Anywho, then it seems logical to start thinking about how old is our member AI? How many times was it rebooted? Is there more than a single new who, or twin new who's, or more, or not?___As I just thunk this two day, it is two earily to say; that is name a new who who I knew wasn't you. So to speak. ___Processingling yours,Turtlebot Quote
Buffy Posted December 18, 2005 Report Posted December 18, 2005 ___"Right to the point...er counterpoint", said Turtle to Buffybot. "We shall make things say what we mean as we go.""Oh, lets use the same words and just make up the meaning as we go along!" Humpty Dumpty-like!___Tormod is no Eliza, in the very least because you discounted my being Eliza by virtues of my photos etc..True, the NYC pics are mostly convincing, but then, the other participants are potentials...I do think Zad is real by virtue of his visual super-chess puns. On the otherhand a conspiracy theorist will note that such pictures can be photoshopped convincingly....I have never been to the Taj Mahal, but I do have a picture of me in front of it...let us assume that at least one Hypography member is indeed not a human , but a program running on a machine.Well, we know that many denizens herein do not fall properly within the human taxonomic classification, but we do need to distinguish between the human, alien, and automatons, and of course the drug-altered. Mustn't forget that group as they are well-represented and can skew certain classification criteria.Anywho, then it seems logical to start thinking about how old is our member AI? How many times was it rebooted?Who knows? Reboots do not imply resets. Nor can we discount interim reprogramming or system updates. And just to bring alexander in, can we conclude that any Windows based automaton would not be able to foole us? Would it have to be implemented in Python on Linux?___As I just thunk this two day, it is two earily to say; that is name a new who who I knew wasn't you. So to speak.Oh my, we must beware of Pods or other changelings that could mislead. Perhaps some once-real person was snatched away and replaced? Could be. Factor this into your criteria... Racoon Posted December 18, 2005 Report Posted December 18, 2005 IA on hypography. Sounds too good to be true! Not an inplausible concept. Now evidence of ones humanity must be proven!!:cup: Are we headed towards a "Matrix" scenario???Racoon is indeed human, and unabashed to proclaim as such. Everyone will gather to the manWho rules in the light of the One. To trust such a being is to liveIn true happiness and healing. Good food and sweet musicMay make you stop -You listen, in passing. But the Tao: how does it seem?Oh, tasteless and shapeless by comparison. You cannot even hear it.Is it even worth trying to? Yes, my friendbecause it is unending. Tao Te Ching chapter 35 Quote
Turtle Posted December 18, 2005 Author Report Posted December 18, 2005 "Oh, lets use the same words and just make up the meaning as we go along!" Humpty Dumpty-like! like - Dumpty Humpty! So be it, we shall the masters be. Well, we know that many denizens herein do not fall properly within the human taxonomic classification, but we do need to distinguish between the human, alien, and automatons, and of course the drug-altered. Mustn't forget that group as they are well-represented and can skew certain classification criteria. Who knows? Yes, I concurr with your statement finding it material & clarificationally adroit...or is that androit? Now, as we have a triad of denizens of nounian origin & an operative compound of application, shall we say there are six deni-zenic flavors, ie. one set of drug-altered & another not. That is to say do aliens & automotons have a subseption to drugs or pleasure sub-routines? Reboots do not imply resets. Nor can we discount interim reprogramming or system updates. And just to bring alexander in, can we conclude that any Windows based automaton would not be able to foole us?I should say not. I mean do by all means bring Alexander but the base of the automaton must not perturb as it only basaly needs 1 face & 1 edge. Would it have to be implemented in Python on Linux?Python & Linux? Are they the ones crouching under the she-wolf? I run in a different pack of leyes, as I don't even play chess. So, any member who only plays chess & I don't know, is not the Ai I know. So at least a Twain Mark I Mark. Oh my, we must beware of Pods or other changelings that could mislead. Perhaps some once-real person was snatched away and replaced? Could be. Factor this into your criteria... Cognitively,Buffy :cup: Youy would think a turtle that sheds its carapice every eleven or some such a matter cycle would not over look the pod people.;doh:I Am Humbly At Your Service Cognate Buffy; I retire to factor as you direct. Quote
Buffy Posted December 18, 2005 Report Posted December 18, 2005 Oooh! Oooh! We should just do a poll! Bots would probably be too stupid or too logical to answer falsely! Turtle Posted December 18, 2005 Author Report Posted December 18, 2005 ___Alllrighty thens. I see now attaching a poll to a thread is different than starting a poll in the Polls Forum. We will decide to agree on what that means when we need to.___On the topic of games, we mentioned chess, & while I know how the pieces move & have played, I don't "enjoy" playing it. Fact is, I don't enjoy playing board games in general. But I do occasionaly specifically like playing a board game that is a cousin of Backgammoin that I learned from a sailor. Called it Acey Deucy. Uses the Backgammon board, stones, & dice. But, the game begins with all stones off the board & they must be entered on by rolls of the dice. No new stone may be entered by a player if they have a stone on the bar & the stone on the bar is entered on the first roll allowing such entry. A roll of 1:2 i.e. Acey Deucy has special consequence. The player must be able to play the ace & deuce & then earns the right to choose any doubles they wish & play them. After that play they receive another roll & play continues as normal. First player to enter all stones, circuit the board, & exit all stones wins.___All readers, please vote on the poll attached above. Graci. Quote
Turtle Posted December 18, 2005 Author Report Posted December 18, 2005 ___While we wait for the pool...er poll to fill, I have some further observations on the game of Acey Deucey I described in the previous post.Under the rules of Acey Deucy, there is no limit to how many free turns one may take other than restricted by wheter an ace or deuce is rolled. In other words, once a first player is chosen at the outset of a new game, it is possible for them to win the game without the other player ever even having a turn. If the first roll of the first play is Acey/Deucey, & then the free roll after taking moves is Acey/Deucy & the free new roll is Acey/Deucy, etc., the continuous rolling of Acey Deucey with each new free roll assures a win.___Just thinking out.:cup: Quote
