eyoussefi Posted May 24, 2002 Report Posted May 24, 2002 (edited) This is an odd question. I am interesed in mechanical engineering as a career. I am wandering though, just how smart do you have to be? Edited November 25, 2014 by eyoussefi Quote
Noah Posted May 24, 2002 Report Posted May 24, 2002 Hi! And welcome. I am not a mechanical engineer, but it has been one of the fields I have thought about. I am currently in college. I am not sure how good the I.Q. test is at telling you how smart you are. The first time I took the IQ test a few years ago it was 150-160. But I have taken it since then and made scores of 130, 120, and 110. I think more important is the SAT and ACT tests. Noah Quote
michaelchang Posted May 24, 2002 Report Posted May 24, 2002 I don't really think IQ is that important a factor in determinig one's success. What's more important is a person's EQ. How he repsonds to challenges and how he conducts himself. A person with a low IQ but a good EQ can do much better than a person of high IQ but low EQ. So don't get too worried about your IQ or smartness, just discipline yourself and work hard, this will eventually bare you fruits. Quote
lawcat Posted November 12, 2009 Report Posted November 12, 2009 This thread is 6 years old. So any advice on this topic is late. But, I love the thread because there is no other Mechanical Engineering threads. So, I will use this thread to talk about all Mechanical Engineering issues, since the original post is dated, advice is late, and the title is Mechanical Engineering. I recently took the Mechanical Engineering PE exam in Heating and Refrigeration. States administer the exam, which is designed by a National exam agency, to license engineers to practice engineering in that State. The exam is difficult and fair. It is fair to the extent that all questions meet expectations, compared to the preparation materials. IT is difficult to the extent that you can have no certainty about the correct answer. Anyway, I will know the results in a few months. Wish me godspeed! Quote
