atomsmasher Posted May 31, 2021 Report Posted May 31, 2021 Our planet was once covered in ice. The ice melted Our planet was covered in ice several times in the past. The ice melted, the water returned to ice We are now in a melting stage, then the ice age will return To understand why, you need to review the history of our planet. Our planet was not created by the development of our solar system. Earth came from elsewhere. As earth, a molten core covered in ice 5.4 miles thick passes by our sun, the suns gravity grabbed earth slinging it into an elliptical orbit, an orbit we are still in today with its axis parallel to the suns. At least it started out that way but now scientists have discovered that an asteroid hit the earth leaving our planet unlivable except for the smallest of creatures and a 23.5-degree tilt. Today, the Earth's axis is tilted 23.5 degrees from the plane of its orbit around the sun. During a cycle that averages about 40,000 years, the tilt of the axis varies between 22.1 and 24.5 degrees. NASA: Climate Change and Global Warming The planets tilt is causing the climate changes. At least five major ice ages have occurred throughout Earth's history: the earliest was over 2 billion years ago, and the most recent one began approximately 3 million years ago and continues today (yes, we live in an ice age!). Currently, we are in a warm interglacial that began about 11,000 years ago https://tinyurl.com/y5foleqr Scientists & geologists have determined that our planet has gone through four (4) major climate changes or ice retreats leaving behind a scared surface as the ice above slides around over the core melting under the suns glare. There is nothing we can do to slow down this change. It is inevitable so adapt or do not, the choice is yours alone to make. Having said all the above what we are doing to combat this climate change is what is saving us; even though this has nothing to do with climate. We are ending the use of fossil fuels; thinking it is saving our planet when in fact fossil fuels are finite. It has been determined that if we continue to consume fossil fuels at the rate we are consuming today, consumers will suck up and burn what known reserves the world has in 30-40 years. The ice age is on its way once again What do we do? Quote
atomsmasher Posted August 5, 2021 Author Report Posted August 5, 2021 (edited) What so many people fail re realize is the there are two (2) dynamics going on here which on the surface seem unrelated which is our biggest mistake World Oil Reserves 1,650,585,140,000 barrels 47 years of oil left (at current consumption levels) World Oil Statistics - Worldometer (worldometers.info) This means, at current consumption all the known oil reserves will be sucked up and burned in 47 years. Which means that the world’s major energy source will not be able to meet demand in 20+/- years. If the world acts now to gradually switch from oil to renewables the transition will a peaceful one. If we do not do this, a world global fight will occur to control what oil is left. This will lead to WW3 which in itself will burn up what is left. The term Armageddon comes to mind. used in a generic sense to refer to any end of the world scenario. Armageddon - Wikipedia This may not concern you because you will not be around then; but your grandchildren will !! Fighting climate change and discovering new renewable energy resources are fighting to achieve the same thing. The survival of the human race. (:- Edited August 5, 2021 by atomsmasher Quote
atomsmasher Posted August 5, 2021 Author Report Posted August 5, 2021 You people need to be a little more inventive in order to solve this problem. So far, the only drawback in electric cars is the charge time, what an inconvenience it is. There is a solution You do not charge your battery, you exchange it. I see it happening this way, just like you drive into a car wash where you drive between two metal rails until the red stop like comes on then the wash begins, instead of a was or at the same time an underground machine reaches up to the bottom of your car, removes the discharged battery and replaces it with a charged one. This may take three (3) minutes or five (5) if you want your car washed too. Quote
atomsmasher Posted November 4, 2021 Author Report Posted November 4, 2021 Heads up----- Summary Table as of 2017 Oil Reserves 1,650,585,140,000 barrels Oil Consumption 35,442,913,090 barrels per year 97,103,871 barrels per day Reserves/Consumption 47 (years left) https://www.worldometers.info/oil/ (:- Quote

Should a battery catch on fire, the washing water supple washing your car goes into triple time to put our the fire. Thank goodness you had your widows rolled up !!!! (:- ,. Vldsj Posted January 25, 2022 Report Posted January 25, 2022 Question regarding climate change: Does anyone know of anything currently happening that is unique to climate change of our time, that has never occurred in previous climate change periods in the hundreds of millions of years preceding the current episode? I am not looking to discuss current theories, rather I want to know what is unique about climate change today; what makes the current incident different or unique from any or all previous events? Thank you for your thoughts in this matter. Var Quote

Thank you for your thoughts in this matter. Var What is unique to this warming cycle is the presence of humans with their heavy industry which produces a lot of CO2. This additional CO2 is causing the warming cycle to accelerate, as all of it cannot be absorbed as fast as we are producing it. But from studies I have seen, the fears of a runaway condition are so far unfounded. We are learning how to capture the CO2 we produce, as well as other measures that may help the natural cycle to catch up. Quote
