back to the train riddle... because we arent given a distance and im assuming you dont want us to go and look up the distance between new york and boston the answer will be something trivial such as 'there is no train line between new york and boston' (I dont know? Is there, im from australia)

EDIT:: ohhh i got it now! when they encounter the trains are at the same place, So assuming that when they encounter you mean the front of the trains the back of the New York->Boston train will be closer to New York

when they encounter they will both be at the same spot, therefore they will both be the same distance from new york.

The actual answer has been posted by Dark Mind; but if the two trains were to stop upon meeting locomotive prow to locomotive prow, I guess you could technically say the train from New York is closer, by its train length.

Here's one I pulled out.(Its not original with me, folks)

Knights tell the truth at all times, Knaves lie every other question, and liars lie.

Hyperlogitech Corp. just discovered that they have two employees embezzling funds. Investigators have narrowed the field down to six suspects.

The suspects are Alice, Bert, Carl, Dave, Emily, and Fiona. In the group there are two Knights, two Knaves and two Liars. (For this puzzle, Knaves alternate truths and lies.)

Each suspect made comments as follows:

Alice: No women are crooks. Emily and Fiona are Liars.

Bert: Alice is a crook, but I am not. One of the women is a Liar.

Carl: Fiona is a crook, but I am not. Dave is a Knight. Fiona is a Knave.

Dave: Emily is a crook, but I am not. Bert is a Liar.

Emily: Alice isn't a Knight. Carl is not a crook.

Fiona: Emily is a Liar. Dave is not a crook.

Who are the embezzlers?

On your honors to try and post a solution.

Solution;

Alice: Crook and Liar

1. No women are crooks. Lie- Alice and Fiona are both crooks.

2. Emily and Fiona are Liars. Lie- Emily is a Knight.

Bert: Knight

1. Alice is a crook, but I am not. True- Alice is a crook, Bert is not.

2. One of the women is a Liar. True- Alice is a Liar.

Carl: Knave

1. Fiona is a crook, but I am not. True- Fiona is a crook, Carl is not.

2. Dave is a Knight. Lie- Dave is a Liar.

3. Fiona is a Knave. True- Fiona is a Knave.

Dave: Liar

1. Emily is a crook, but I am not. Lie- Emily is not a crook.

2. Bert is a Liar. Lie- Bert is a Knight.

Emily: Knight

1. Alice isn't a Knight. True- Alice is a Liar.

2. Carl is not a crook. True- Carl is not a crook.

Fiona: Crook and Knave

1. Emily is a Liar. Lie- Emily is a Knight.

2. Dave is not a crook. True- Dave is not a crook.

thats the one ;)

who enjoys a good paradox? I love them, heres a few I found:

Your mission is to not accept the mission. Do you accept?

Answer truthfully (yes or no) to the following question: Will the next word you say be no?

Don't go near the water, till you have learned how to swim.

What is better than eternal bliss? Nothing. But a slice of bread is better than nothing. So slice of bread is more than eternal bliss.

If somebody says about himself, that he lies, is it truth or lie?

No.

No.

When you swim,(or drown) you are "IN" not near.

False statement. Eternal bliss has not been equated with nothing.

If somebody says about himself, that he lies, is it truth or lie?

Truth, since he lies.
