Thunderbird Posted March 25, 2009 Report Posted March 25, 2009 jade? Or in two min like Freezy, :) Very good , correct. Jade originates from deep within the earth at high pressure and low temperature. When certain mineral asseblages are present the zone can be referred to as "blue faces", spelled facies. Jade is formed in this zone. The blueschist facies is at relatively low temperature but high pressure, such as occurs in rocks in a subduction zone. The facies is named after the schistose character of the rocks and the blue minerals glaucophane and lawsonite. The blueschist facies forms the following mineral assemblages:In metabasites:glaucophane + lawsonite + chlorite + sphene ± epidote ± phengite ± paragonite, omphacite In metagreywackes:quartz + jadeite + lawsonite ± phengite, glaucophane, chlorite In china Jade is known as the "Stone of Heaven." Jade comes in any color you can think of, red, blue, white, purple, lavender, and even green. Jade is actually divided into to two distinct minerals, nephrite and jadeite. Both are valued equally as jade. If you know me , you know I am a man that uses “crystals” diamond tools to cut jade. Shaping it into animals. Quote
