Thunderbird Posted March 25, 2009 Report Posted March 25, 2009 In an ancient tale An object of great power binds men to men It tells of a long hard journey Separate paths brave warriors take but only the most unlikely of heroesStands at the source . Evil is vanished The kingdom is saved. What object is the story about. Quote
Thunderbird Posted March 25, 2009 Report Posted March 25, 2009 Its not the "One Ring", but the antithesis of it. Quote

Thunderbird Posted March 25, 2009 Report Posted March 25, 2009 Tolkien was not only a language scholar, but an astute student of Mythology. His Fellowship of the Ring is in fact based on one particular myth, just in reverse. :) Quote
Thunderbird Posted March 25, 2009 Report Posted March 25, 2009 Ok guys, mine was a Crayfish, you guys hit close but no ring! How is crayfish closer to "Grouch" than crab. Crab literately means grouch. A crab is a shell fish also so''''I win.:) Quote

Thunderbird Posted March 25, 2009 Report Posted March 25, 2009 is that my clue? or can i guess silmarilAnd that one was based on the old testament. Nope that’s all, ask a question. Quote
pamela Posted March 25, 2009 Report Posted March 25, 2009 there are similarities in the trilogy and the Silmarillion to the Bible, but also to other mythologies. One can say the same about C.S.Lewis although some of his work is clearly written with a Christian theme.i think i am missing the clue here, can you assist? or at least give me an inkling of a clue;) Quote
Moontanman Posted March 25, 2009 Report Posted March 25, 2009 How is crayfish closer to "Grouch" than crab. Crab literately means grouch. A crab is a shell fish also so''''I win.:hihi: I am known as a grouchbut i am called a fishI can walk on landand survive underground If not for the part of riddle where the writer chooses the answer you would indeed have won.
