Hummmmmm, not a Mark, well sir, I think I"m gonna need a little hint; Can this measure of money be typified as foreign currency or is it simply something of intrinsic value like gold or silver? Understand, I'm not suggesting that my answer is gold or silver, just trying to nail down the type or measure of the money.....Infy

It is an old & international standard based on silver.;)

No Sir.

The term must fit all the clues, not just the money bit. What kind of "controlling piece, a performance, a hole maker, and a wound inflicted", is a pennyweight?:) :eek2: :cup:

Try again.

I'm gonna try; Pound

It fits most of the criteria, with the exception of 'a hole maker'.

Measure of money, English pound

A controlling piece, The measure of weight; # or lb.

A performance, The foot pound, as in torque

A hole maker, ...............................?

A wound inflicted, to beat violently, to pound.

This is all I can come up with Turtle, maybe another hint is in order????

Nice guess AND qualifications...but not right nonetheless. I will give hints then based on your astute cogitations & sapid response.

1)Right idea, just wrong thing.

2)Mechanical controlling piece.

3)Entertaining performance.

4)?

5)Right idea, wrong thing.

Try Again!?

Thanks my friend; I believe the key is to find out which term fits with 'a hole maker'. I must confess that for the past 2 hrs. I've been searching the net trying to figure this riddle out. As yet, no luck on the hole maker clue. I'm gonna give it a rest for a while and then concentrate on this avenue of approach.......................Infy

how much wood could a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?

Two chords shy of a full load.

I would like to tentavely suggest a "cut" as a possible solution for Turtle's riddle.

As always, the best odf wishes.

Well considered guess damocles! I see that even without qualification.:D However I must inform you it is incorrect.

For those of you trying to follow, here's my original riddle:

What term is a measure of money, a controlling piece, a performance, a hole maker, and a wound inflicted?:)

Try Again!?

A bit.

It is money, a controlling peice?, a skit, a drill bit, and bit by something.
