As if.:) Specifically, a 'bit' is 1/8th of a Spansih Doubloon. As they had no smaller coinage, people cut the doubloon into 8 roughly equal pie-shape parts, each called a 'bit'. The old saying "2 bits, 4 bits, 6 bits, a dollar, comes from this practice. Today we still call a quarte(dollar) in the US, two-bits.:D Quote
