Close enough but *** luck has it no cigar, because the answer is a mammal, and ends in -key and is also taken as a symbol of bad behavior as are monkeys. The riddle continues. :esmoking:

Mr. Moody grumbles about bad time-keeping trains from morning till night!.

On one particular morning he was quiet justified.

His train left on time for the one hour journey, to Clarksville, and it arrived 5 minutes late.

However, Mr. Moody 's watch showed it to be 3 minutes early, so he adjusted his watch by putting it forward 3 minutes.

His watch kept time during the day, and on the return journey in the evening the train started on time, according to his watch, and arrived on time, according to the station clock.

If the train travelled 25 percent faster on the return journey than it did on the morning journey, was the station clock fast or slow, and by how much?

Which station clock? The one in Clarkesville, or the other one?:hyper: :)

assuming that the journey is supposed to take 55 mins, if the return journey takes 45 mins the clock would be 10 mins fast (without an relativistic corrections :) ) ?

hmm.. that was my initial guess, but then on closer insection I think its a little more complicated, I tried some algebra and came up with 22.5 slow and 32.5 fast :hyper: back to the drawing board methinks!

 As written, the riddle mentions Moody's watch, a station clock in Clarksville (the first destination) and a station clock in the station he returns to from Clarksville. So, we have 3 timepieces here and I ask again which station clock does the riddle refer to?
