Karnuvap Posted October 23, 2008 Report Posted October 23, 2008 Here's one to sort the adults from the teens. What's the next number on this sequence? 16 33 45 ? If no one gets it I have a clue that I can add. upon request. The Vap Quote
pamela Posted October 23, 2008 Report Posted October 23, 2008 hey Karnuvap, I could use the clue or give me the fourth set and I will give back the fifth Quote
William Honey Posted October 23, 2008 Report Posted October 23, 2008 okay William, the valley of the Kings at Thebes hills- mountain peak of this area is Al-Qurn or Ta-dehent in ancient egyptian That was my answer to your riddle about the container with no lid, I thoughtit could be the mountain where King Tut was buried with all that treasurethat was found in the 1920's. The correct answer was an egg and I shouldhave known that, going to fast, thanks for the riddle and thanks also for youranswer about the ax with the spear making the ax head seem to be floatingin the water. Do you know if the ax head riddle was ever solved and wasit the spear like you posted ?? William Quote
pamela Posted October 23, 2008 Report Posted October 23, 2008 hiya Honey, I did not realize that your response was your answer-apologiesas far as the spear goes, I was stating to throw Like a spear for your visual. It was indeed a branch or limb not a spear. As far as I know, the angle at which it was thrusted, allowed the ax head to surface. But of course, I was not there, and this is merely speculation Quote
William Honey Posted October 23, 2008 Report Posted October 23, 2008 Many years ago I was known as the great road builder *My home was Greece and I became a Greek god *I am associated with the planet Mercury *You can find statues of me in stores today * Who am I ?? William Quote
Karnuvap Posted October 23, 2008 Report Posted October 23, 2008 hey Karnuvap, I could use the clue or give me the fourth set and I will give back the fifth This wasn't the clue that I was going to give you but, since you ask it like that, I'll tell you that there are only the four numbers in this sequence. pamela Posted October 23, 2008 Report Posted October 23, 2008 Thanks Karnuvap, i will approach it from that angle :( Quote

Karnuvap Posted October 23, 2008 Report Posted October 23, 2008 Ok - By special request (and remember that this is the Riddle forum and not the Mathematical Conundrums one) the additional clue is: I lied slightly with the first two numbers... 16.6666, 33 1/3, 45, ?? And, no, William - sorry but 90 is not the next number. Quote

Karnuvap Posted October 23, 2008 Report Posted October 23, 2008 Correctomundo! Record player speeds for old-school pre-CD days. We actually had some original 16 rpm discs - they were only good for the spoken word and our ones had short fairy tales on them. Of course 33's were the old LP (or long player) records or albums. 45's were for singles and 78's were the very old original gramophone records. The 16s sounded really funny at 78 rpm. More recent record players only had the 33 and 45 speeds so this may have thrown some of the younger ones. So, Well Done. I don't know what your prize is though. Quote

My prize is knowing that I got one....Yip eeeee !! Now Vap can you answer my riddle in who the Greek god is ?? William Quote
William Honey Posted October 23, 2008 Report Posted October 23, 2008 Are you Hermes? Correctomundo Karnuvap, Hermes is right and you did not have much to go on as I did not have many clues. Good job Vap, I will have to make the next one harder lol : ) William Quote
Karnuvap Posted October 23, 2008 Report Posted October 23, 2008 Thanks - but it was a shot in the dark because I am not sure why you'd find his statues in stores? Quote
