Is there nothing to say?
There's always plenty to say about nothing!

Unfortunately, it takes true inspiration to truly understand it, so sometimes no nothing is necessary.

Attention, Nothing-Nuts,

Tormod has expressed to me his extreme concern that some of us might, knowingly or otherwise, repeat previously posted statements about nothing at all. This would be in total violation of the rules of this thread, were there any to violate. I know you all share my concern and stand by Our Beloved Leader in my commitment that nothing hinting at repetition shall be posted herein.

Therefore, I propose that we build a software application that shall allow only those posts which are describing nothing in a manner that has absolutely nothing to do with previously posted contributions. Such posts shall be called "sweet nothings" to discriminate them from crass attempts at plagiarism. And nothing is worse than that! Right!

This application shall be called:

Nothing Analysis Duplication Avoidance,

or NADA.

In the true spirit of this thread, I declare myself lead engineer on this project, and promise you all that I will have nothing to do with it.

Sincerely yours,

Pyro the Pernicious

With Pyro's contribution of Nothing to direct this project--demonstrating his mastery of the pointy-haired-boss-school-of-management--I worked late through the night to implement this new feature, which due to my incomparable programming talents required no lines of code. You will notice near the top of the page just above the first post, a new button labeled "Search This Thread". The newly updated but appropriately unpublished Hypography User's Guide now states:

The NADA feature is fully automated. All the user has to do to comply with it is to:
  1. Click the Search This Thread menu item
  2. Pick at least one of the essential words or phrases of your contribution
  3. Enter the word or phrase in the appropriate box in the Search This Thread menu.
  4. Inspect the resulting posts for similarities of words and style. Please note: in the Nothing thread, dissimilarities can be considered plagiarism as well, so please ensure that any dissimilarity with any previous post is appropriate and non-infringing.
  5. Go to Step 1 and repeat until you have nothing left to do.
  6. Manually reenter your post as you have probably lost it in this process and have nothing to post.

Please remember that failure to obey the NADA rule will result in a severe limitation of your ability to enjoy nothing and you will no longer receive nothing in return for your contributions to the thread (and you do not want to find out what that is.

Thank you for your incooperation,

Buffy

Addendum to Hypography User's Guide, v0.87 (NADA Rules):

Note that the non-duplication of nothing does NOT apply to nothing in general, but only to nothing in particular.

I choose ;), because nothing comes to mind except the question Q: 'How do you catch a "unique" animal?", answered by A: "You neek up on them." :)

I have just finished the very first prototype of NADA {Mark III, Version 5.1.7 ©} and gave it its first test! I gave it the address of this thread and a dummy post containing just the word "nothing" to see if NADA would come up with a match. And sure enough, it gave me an email containing an attachment upon which I would find links to all matching posts.

I opened the email, and there was nothing there!

Success!!!!

Okay guys, post away to your hearts content. There is nothing to not worry about.

Upping the old post count then, are we?

^That was said almost two years ago now. This thread is getting nowhere fast. At least we can't say we didn't try nothing.

People have tried showing nothing, proving nothing, defining nothing, musing with nothing... and the net result is we have come up with nothing

I will now try to show you nothing through an exhaustive method of everything that is not nothing..
