OceanBreeze Posted March 11, 2022 Report Posted March 11, 2022 I answered “yes”, it is ethical because the question does not mention whether the chip is inserted voluntarily or not. As long as it is voluntary, it is as ethical as getting a tatoo, or growing a beard, or any number of things that people do, or have done, to their bodies to express their individuality. The chip may even be very useful if it can be programmed to do things like start your car, open the door of your house, or innumberable other useful functions. If it can be programmed with your medical information, it may be extremely valuable in case of an accident, and I can see it replacing the old “dog tags” that soldiers still are wearing that only contain a tiny bit of information. Of course, it would need to be encoded in such a way that only official, authorized chip readers can get the information, which may present a problem as it seems that anything can be hacked by a skilled hacker with the right equipment.
