The only way aliens would visit earth is if they could reach earth have a look around and get back in time for tea ...... if we recieved an alien message i doubt we would send a manned flight to investigate because for the time being we just wouldnt make it . And whos to say all alien life in the universe is freindly ... if life on earth is anything to go by then most life forms seem to attack each other .

Mankind has sent a message to the stars .. the famous one with to naked people probably making rude alien gestures and telling what ever life that can interperet it exactly where we are , what were made of ... also that we have a great abundunce of water and oxygen thats essential for life ..

aliens might just read it and say "how convieniant an outpost at the edge of the galaxy with ample oxygen food and water" ... of course if they are truly clever then they would appreciate life ... but would they appreciate life that conciously dosnt appreciate each other sometimes ,..

The universe is like a huge wonderous life bearing place and if we recieved a message we would certainly question its sincerity ... because in essence we dont want to exceed our parameters ,feel pain , thats how all life survives .. life evolves by filling in the parameters that dont hinder its being in any way .

 

The only way they would visit or take the time is if they knew they would never see there home world again (unless they lived to a gizzillion years old)

of if they set of with great numbers of there kind to co colonize earth

 

I think they would have seen the gamma bursts from nuclear testings and wonder why they gamma sources where just offset from the sun .. they would see this as a phenomenan if they could detect them and see that first came charlie chaplin and other electromagnetic sources from tv shows ... then the nuclear testing gamma source and then the message of the naked people ...... The message would be quite clear Back off or charlie chaplin and harold lloyd will nuke you to peices and if you think where messing thats where we live and thats what we look like
