European Space Agency is considering major investment in space-based solar power

Against the background of the ongoing energy crisis, this decision looks rational. However, it was necessary to think about developing alternative energy sources for a long time when the issue was not so acute. If heating bills have doubled this season for Europeans, then next year they are expected to increase four times.  Now is the best time to think about the formation of wealth. I am in favor of using solar power, but I am curious to find out why we need to go into space to harvest when we already receive 2 trillion MWh p/day on earth.
