arkain101 Posted October 13, 2005 Report Posted October 13, 2005 I need to submit a paper to a prefesor of physics or a magazine to publish. I have been trying for the past week and everyone keeps blowing me off. I even got banned from some forums!!Please have some faith, give me a chance. I have proved a new theory in physics which re-explains special relativity and regular relativity. With this theory everything is much more understandable. I want to post it, submit it, whatever it takes, But I want to make sure it remains in my name and I get the credit for it. I am 22, and I have no access to a university where I live. But this knowledge I possess is burning me up inside I need to get it out there. what do I do? :surprise: Quote

Many people will review it, and provide feedback. As UncleAl’s post demonstrates, some will not be gentle in their criticism, but we do strive to be honest and helpful. There is no incentive for established scientists to attempt to steal your ideas. Scientific theories are not works or technological art – while practical techniques developed using them may be patented, and specific texts expressing them copyrighted, the ideas themselves are not intellectual properties, and cannot be bought or stolen. If your theory proves important, universities will be eager to have you as a student, to increase their prestige. If it proves inconsequential (wrong, or “not even good enough to be wrong”), no one will want it, and you will be no worse off than before. In any case, expressing yourself will, I hope, relieve your feeling of internal combustion. PS: Welcome to scienceforums. Please be thoughtful and courteous with us. Quote
arkain101 Posted October 13, 2005 Author Report Posted October 13, 2005 Alright then I will post my theories.. and here is hoping someone does not take credit on everything! Quote
Qfwfq Posted October 13, 2005 Report Posted October 13, 2005 Welcome Arkain and don't worry about people taking credit, although I disagree with Craig. It isn't a matter of somebody selling your ideas, they aren't really sold and if a journal is willing to publish your article you must accord them full copyright anyway, what counts is the reputation, the value in a researcher's curriculum. Also, never mind Uncle Al. :) The only thing is that, if it's a claim that you're making, you should be able to support it otherwise it goes in the Strange Claims Forum. Before taking a look at your work I'll give you this bit of advice: If you haven't been to university and haven't studied these things from university material and you aren't familiar with research publications, expect that you just might be either re-inventing the wheel or misunderstanding something. Don't take it bad if response isn't too good. :) Quote
nkt Posted October 13, 2005 Report Posted October 13, 2005 I'd suggest throwing it up on a web page and putting a link to it on here. That way you can add pictures, etc. Quote

If it doesn't, then maybe you shouldn't bother posting it - SR and GR are totally logically self consistent. They don't need to be "re-explained". Quote
cwes99_03 Posted October 21, 2005 Report Posted October 21, 2005 I disagree with the last comment there. There is still much to be tested and explained with SR at least if not also GR. Quote
Tormod Posted October 21, 2005 Report Posted October 21, 2005 They don't need to be "re-explained". Exactly my thought as well. If you have re-explained relativity you don't have a new theory, you have an interpretation of one. Quote

Greg_G47 Posted November 3, 2005 Report Posted November 3, 2005 Publish your theory on a website so we can read it. Quote
