Jay-qu Posted October 16, 2005 Report Posted October 16, 2005 you know if you put boiling water in the tray it minimises your waiting time ;) Quote
Merek Posted October 16, 2005 Author Report Posted October 16, 2005 was that a serious response or a stupid one? ;) Quote
rockytriton Posted October 16, 2005 Report Posted October 16, 2005 I usually do the opposite, when I want to boil water for eggs, I use all the ice cubes in my freezer, put them in a pot and start the boiling, it goes much faster that way. Quote
Jay-qu Posted October 17, 2005 Report Posted October 17, 2005 was that a serious response or a stupid one? ;) flat out serious response! it is a fact that boiled water will freeze faster - now there is a few ways that this can be argued such as freezes faster than what? boiling water wont freeze faster than water at 5 degrees Celcius but possibly faster than room temp water. google the Mpemba effect for more details.. ;) Quote
rockytriton Posted October 17, 2005 Report Posted October 17, 2005 weird...... I wonder if you boil the water, let it cool to room temp, then freeze it if it will still go faster. Quote
Merek Posted October 17, 2005 Author Report Posted October 17, 2005 yea i herd that boiling thing some where before, but i didnt remember...o well Quote
Jay-qu Posted October 17, 2005 Report Posted October 17, 2005 weird...... I wonder if you boil the water, let it cool to room temp, then freeze it if it will still go faster. yeah it would because you have boiled all of the gasses out of it so it allows convection to occur more easily hence cooling faster...
