Eugene Posted June 10, 2002 Report Posted June 10, 2002 I'm a bit slow, okay? It would help me a lot with trig if someone will explain this to me:3 points on the arc of a right angle at 0, 45 and 90 degrees. Why is the distance from y0 to y45 degrees not the same as from y45 to y90 degrees? Eugene
Noah Posted June 10, 2002 Report Posted June 10, 2002 Me and my dad (a physics teacher) discussed this for a few minutes and agreed on the same answer; that the arc in not perfect. The 0 and 90 points and not the same distance from the corner. I was going to put a little diagram up for you, but could not get it to work right. Noah
Eugene Posted June 11, 2002 Author Report Posted June 11, 2002 Noah,I took a guess at the diagram you wanted to draw - squared circle? So drew it up and kind of see what you're saying, but still intrigues me (the whole thing!) Will keep working at it....thanks a lot!Eugene
Noah Posted June 13, 2002 Report Posted June 13, 2002 I will draw up what I mean and post it here. Noah
Noah Posted August 13, 2002 Report Posted August 13, 2002 I am sooooo sorry Eugene, I meant to post this a long time ago! You will see what I mean, that the distance between the corner and X and the corner and Y is different because it is an inperfect arc, and it also makes the distance from 0 to 45 and 45 to 90 degrees different. NoahAgain, sorry for posting it so late. I got the picture posted at my website Click Here I could not get it to upload here.
Tormod Posted August 13, 2002 Report Posted August 13, 2002 Noah, to post images you must make sure that it either resides on your server or upload it as an attachment! Tormod
