Pyrotex Posted January 12, 2006 Report Posted January 12, 2006 ha, THIS HAS TO BE THE ONLY WAY, SLOW AND BURTIAL OR FAST AND PAINLESS, ONLY 25 CENTS!!! :rolleyes:It is a proven and well-decided fact, contested by no one of any intelligence at all, and thoroughly documented in all major encyclopedias and grocery store tabloids, that the minimum cost of suicide is tied to the price of gasoline in Moorhouse, OK. 25 cents a gallon was the price in 1969!! You must allow for inflation. :) Quote
Pyrotex Posted January 12, 2006 Report Posted January 12, 2006 eh i think that people started making jokes because somebody with a sense of humor made a joke and everyone just kinda ran with it. no harm intended, no harm done. Many folks forget that the harmless and funny TV show M*A*S*H was based on the movie by the same name, where the central theme was SUICIDE. It was still funny. Quote

Chacmool Posted January 13, 2006 Report Posted January 13, 2006 hmmm... if i really wanted to end my lifei would just jump off of a cliffoverlooking the pacificYes, that should be very efficient and rather poetic. But the issue at hand is not effective methods of suicide - of which there are many. The question is whether it should be made easier for those seriously contemplating suicide, and less messy to deal with for those left behind. Would this type of assisted suicide be ethical? Is it perhaps even our duty to help free people from their seemingly inescapable problems? Or is it just another of society's quick-fixes? Quote
arkain101 Posted January 13, 2006 Report Posted January 13, 2006 well suicide is rarely ones goal when the attempt it. We are all unique and some can handle things that others cant. Be it because one has better reasoning than the other, more experience in hard times.. or whatever. The point is when someone is suicidal, they cant seem to stop a pain and confusion and hatred that grows.. and it becomes 99.9% of the priority in your life. Suicide is a natural response in the mind in this condistion because it is an answer, or a hope.. but it is rarely someones goal. If they can knock themselves out for a few hours since they cant sleep then its relief because they had some escape. So its a shame people go through these things but that is life.. and it just so happens that you arent capable to deal with it. Its a cry out for help saying ALL THAT I AM CAN NOT HANDLE WHAT I AM EXPERIENCING, let me return to where I came from before this. SInce people die all the time.. we need to learn to charish and accept death as a happy transistion one goes through in there life. Surly we want to prolong this life as much as possible to get all that we can out of it.But really, suicide does cause a problem for everyone else when you do it..so I agree a suicide station wouldnt be such a horrible Idea when death is generally accepted as a beautiful part of life.. and when people go in there and see someone die and realize how much they just gave up on.. chances are they will change there mind. But my point to all of this is, dont be suprised when someone dies.. its just as expected as seeing them alive and it is not the end, you will get your time too and more things are on our journey. If you arent really going to make use of life in some constructive manner than really whats the point of being here. Millions suffer, and here we have people doing nothing, eating more food than they need too... while these people suffering may be learning spiritual growth and or doing acts of kindness.. anyway.. suicide is not such a bad thing.. because I dont see death as such a sad thing. However, taking away someones life is a differnt thing... no one has the right to conflict the expectation of anothers life. Chacmool 1 Quote
KillMeBySuicide Posted January 13, 2006 Report Posted January 13, 2006 well, even though suicide should never happen. if somebody did want to kill themselves, maybe it would be easier to just help them along. with a pill the experience could be a lot less harmful. say its just a sleeping pill that you take and it would put you to sleep and then when you're sleepign you would die?that would be very peaceful. but personally, if i wanted to die, i would just take a bunch of drugs, so i'd be having the craziest mind numbing experience of my life right before i died. in fact, i would probably think that death is still part of the experience. but who knows? Daymare17 Posted January 16, 2006 Report Posted January 16, 2006 This is spot on, in my opinion it's too difficult to commit suicide. After realizing that there will never be any dignity in my life, I have a strong deathwish 24/7. I have wanted to attempt suicide several times, but never actually attempted it. The reason? It's too damn difficult and I'm to afraid of pain. I don't want to drown, cut my wrists, hang myself or jump off a cliff because of the pain and possible survival involved. The ideal thing would be a gun but my dad keeps them locked up at all times. Whenever I decide that I want to try a more painful method anyway, I begin setting up the noose/taking out a razor and then I just don't dare to do it, and end up playing some guitar or desperately losing myself in a computer game to "cool off". What can I do? Existence is very painful for me. A single pill with 100% lethality sounds like just what I need. Quote

A single pill with 100% lethality sounds like just what I need.If you are still questioning, then you must have hope for better times, so you need to hang in there. It's amazing how many people manage to survive and find something worthwhile even when the prospects seem bleak. Look at Stephen Hawking who cannot even speak, yet he is full of life and still excited by the universe. Many of us go through tough times and want to give up. Sometimes, I would like to be in a witness protection program only I don't know any serious criminals, just ordinary ones. Painless suicide is possible with the right combination of drugs. Marilyn and Elvis did it. The trick is to make sure it works, and that's very chancy. I don't recommend trying at home. For a while, I counselled people with substance abuse so I know how difficult it can be at times. Don't go to the hospital unless you want to be locked up in the psych ward. But do look for a professional so you can explain your situation. Don't trust just anyone. People contemplate suicide when they are at rock bottom. That's the worst time since it's when you are most vulnerable to failure and embarrassment. You should be sober, clear thinking, and have considered all options before you make such drastic plans. Also, think of what you leave behind. How are your friends and relatives going to react? Who is going to look after your things, your dog or cat, books, emails? Lots of loose ends to consider before taking any action. Send me a personal message if you still have some doubts. Meanwhile, read a book on theoretical physics or watch Garfield, the Movie. GAHD Posted January 16, 2006 Report Posted January 16, 2006 *Disclamer, all information within is anecdotal at best* @ daymare, I'm no shrink but I would say these are issues that lots of teenagers face(I assume your age, correct me if I'm wrong). I went through a similar period, and emerged with a rather morbid sense of humour because of it(see snuff films). If life really does suck that much that it doesn't seem worth it, you may wish to consider changing your life rather than ending it. I don't know you: but if this has anything to do with people at school, or your (now ex) significant other, I can say you just need change your scene and all should work out. If it's because you're done school and have no idea what to do with your life, Wel I don't know if that will ever change as that's where I'm stuck too. Either way, These are issues you should talk about with somebody who actually knows what they're talking about. If you truely decide to end it all atleast be considerate and bury yourself first; I know what rotting flesh smells like(if you don't understand, visit a leather tanning or slaughterhouse refuse bin), and it's not something you should visit on anyone, especially your loved ones. Pyrotex Posted January 16, 2006 Report Posted January 16, 2006 *Disclamer, all information within is anecdotal at best*@ daymare, I'm no shrink but I would say these are issues that ...Amen, amen. I grew up in a wheelchair because of polio. I have spent now half a century in one. The first decade wasn't too bad because I was a kid and didn't really know I was different. The second decade was hell because I KNEW. Social isolation can drive one to suicidal thoughts. In college, I would take the elevator to the dorm roof several nights a week and stare at the ground six floors below. I played this game, where I tried to think of a really good reason not to jump. Sometimes I would latch onto a hope I could believe in. Sometimes my curiosity just wanted to know how I would turn out. Sometimes my love for learning would make me wait until *after* I learned the next section of my Physics textbook. The easiest times were when I lost all hope. At rock bottom, the easiest thing to do was stick it out one more day and watch the movie of my life and eat popcorn. Since I had nothing to lose, I would go out and take social risks, like asking someone for a date. Maybe something interesting would happen. Looking back on it now, I must say that something usually did. And I survived. End of story. Quote
ghostblaze Posted January 16, 2006 Report Posted January 16, 2006 well... this being my first post since the new revision, and seeing as my old account went stale, I thought it best to start on a morbid note.... my favourite: self demise. ... meet the resurrection. B) First and foremost, we all know the best way to land out of a plane is on 15 caps of e without a parachute. ...second. This is my advice, grab some explosives (or make them) pack a few weapons in a briefcase (ones that you have grown accustomed to), go down to washington and finish the job... by that I mean, the canadian soul within you that burnt it down twice, is still enraged because it sees it up once more and knows it's not supposed to be there... the answer to all your quarrells my friend lies within the whitehouse, in a lightweight suede envelope with a templar wax seal, inside a black neclace box next to a flashlight and glasses case, contained within a titatinium briefcase. Either handcuffed to a golden coloured american flag pole or a *S*ecret *S*ervice Grunt's wrist (depending on what time of the day). and then you will find momentary peace... and want to kill yourself once more. HEY! ladadadaladadaladadaladadedadeda! (russian kick dancing music plays as the credits roll). You could also become a monk, priest, rabbi, psychic, magician, mime, guy playing an acordian while the spider monkey collects change in a red tin cup. You thought I left it out, but no (please don't be a clown)... there's a powerful nation led by one already and he is by far a superb clown. So much so I dub him the new lord of the clowns. STAND AND FIGHT TO DEFEND THE PLANET, ...or STAND AND FIGHT TO DEFEND THE RESEARCH of the WARP-DRIVE, so you can leave the planet before the fallout. And if what the man with the wooden leg and glass eye with aluminum teeth that was fishing for pixies under the bridge said was right. And the aliens from the second dimension DO take you into their tentacles and usurp your memories as your life pittles out of existence. Straight from the hobo's lair. ...I WILL post again, oh yes! .."uhhhhahahheha, the dude's like B) " I decided to keep going, because we've mostly strayed from the originating subject... I think that if it wants to accomplish something enough, it will go to great lengths to achieve it's goal... this being the commonality of earth's nature, and the instict of survival... suicide/self termination could be, if not, is an adverse and indirect - mutated natural reaction to one's current perspective on one's general environment (no matter how they got there, whether it be an external reason or self consequential). Internal, external, mental, physical, etc... however you wish to describe it. One seeks to escape it's current situation, we can only guess to what. That escape is seen as the organism's only form of release/expulsion from the undesired circumstances. Hence it's 'survival'. These are signs and evidence of a pseudo self-destructive human "eco"system. That has brought individuals to these means, I'll go out on a bending limb here teetering on a leaf saying that I can willingly bet (not a betting man) a great sum of cash on the fact that most of the "circumstances" mentioned earlier could have been preventable to some degree or another. One who seeks the correct answer must ask another with the correct question. ...if you can't grasp my broadness, I'll be more descriptive later on... I must rest now this is too much.if you are dissatisfied...andif you want an exampled opinion, here goes: I would mercy kill the soldier from the metallica song "One". No limbs, no sight, or sound... and enough touch to morse code his wishes. (an impeccable example of survival backing the above theory).... and if you don't know the story behind the lyrics of this song... then... Quote

Your family died, you flunked school and got fired? No problem, just keep a positive attitude! The most scary thing about what you suggest is that if carried through to the end, it would wipe out any trace of compassion from your mind. You would truly become a machine, inured to others suffering. Everything is fine no matter what you say! Because the fairies tell me so lalalalala Quote

Cedars Posted January 17, 2006 Report Posted January 17, 2006 Generally speaking, yes I think there should be a type of suicide kit available for people who are serious about ending their lives. What the requirements surrounding this would be, I am not sure. I do not think minors should be given this option as a general rule. I do not think the kits should be as easy to get as asprin/tylenol even for adults. I think it would end up being similar to how the assisted suicide is going in oregon. Of those who could request such a means, few do. And some of those who request this ending do not follow thru with this. But it seems to give them some reassurance that they do have control over that particular aspect of their lives. I can understand why a person with terminal cancer would not want to die of that disease. There are conditions I would no longer consider life worth living for myself. For example: I would not want to die of brain cancer. I would rather end my life before that cancer killed me. Quote
Boerseun Posted January 17, 2006 Author Report Posted January 17, 2006 Good point, Cedars. A friend of mine's dad died years ago from a brain tumor. They caught it quite early (he was complaining about headaches and funny smells) but the tumor was rooted too deep in his brain to be removable. So they told him "Well, enjoy the next six months - they're gonna be your last". And he regressed from that point further as the tumor grew, and started losing mental (and eventually bodily) functions as it progressed. Eventually, a month or so before his death, he was like a little child. He was also soiling himself, and blabbering away in some sort of baby-speak. And they prepared him for it. Six months prior to his death they explained to both him and his family what to expect as time went by, and at that stage he was still fully conscious. If it was me, and the docs told me I have six months of regressing into a subhuman state, in the worst way imaginable, I would definitely root for the 'suicide-kit' option. Imagine: Instead of turning into a undignified, brainless lump of meat, I'd invite my family and friends for a roaring party, with beer and booze and good wine and excellent food flowing. Then, after I've had a good chat to them all, I'll sneak off to my room and pop a pill. Whilst I'm still mentally able to decide my fate. Maybe a suicide kit should only be an option on medical grounds. Quote
