Turtle Posted January 17, 2006 Report Posted January 17, 2006 ____The United States Supreme Court has just upheld Oregon's assisted suicide law. Oregon has about 35 people a year use the law to end their lives since it went on the books about 8 years ago. This ruling helps clear the way for other states considering enacting laws similar to Oregon's. Quote
Tarantism Posted January 17, 2006 Report Posted January 17, 2006 wow i cannot believe where this forum has gone! from discussing the morality of suicide to joking about suicide kits, to actually talking about them as a possibility! ont hat note, suicide kits are a great medical option...though i agree with ceders that minors shouldnt be able to get them at all (even with parental permission!). Turtle Posted January 17, 2006 Report Posted January 17, 2006 ___To clarify, the Physician Assisted Suicide Law in Oregon is only for terminally ill patients & not for people simply tired of living. Quote

Cedars Posted January 18, 2006 Report Posted January 18, 2006 Imagine: Instead of turning into a undignified, brainless lump of meat, I'd invite my family and friends for a roaring party, with beer and booze and good wine and excellent food flowing. Then, after I've had a good chat to them all, I'll sneak off to my room and pop a pill. Whilst I'm still mentally able to decide my fate. Maybe a suicide kit should only be an option on medical grounds. I think I would have more than one party. Maybe like 2 solid months of frying brain cells. While birding. Or a bunch of outdoor adventures while celebrating the winding down of my life. Quote

They should be made to suffer through adolescence like the rest of us! Surviving the "Darwin Test" is mandatory before being accepted as a grownup. Quote

arkain101 Posted January 29, 2006 Report Posted January 29, 2006 WAR IS PEACEIGNORANCE IS STRENGTHLIES ARE TRUTH I'd rather kill myself than become so ****ed up in the head that I can think everything is fine no matter what happens. Your family died, you flunked school and got fired? No problem, just keep a positive attitude! The most scary thing about what you suggest is that if carried through to the end, it would wipe out any trace of compassion from your mind. You would truly become a machine, inured to others suffering. Everything is fine no matter what you say! Because the fairies tell me so lalalalala I dont say wipe out compassion. The message here was to show you that when things in life become overwhelming and you pain and hurt and lose reason to live, no one else forced you to feel that way, it is a natural response of course and a healthy one. But at times people cant let go of these pains and it rules their lives. We know hundreds of thousands starve, die and suffer all the time.. This might make you feel like crap sitting in your warm cozy home thinking about it, but what does this accomplish having you suffer because of others. It gives you a good reason to do something about it, but theres the key, Action, doing something about it. The purpose of my ideology is to offer people something to hang onto when the world feels like its falling apart. It is a base to stand on and compass to get you out, we can all get lost, but doing what got you lost in the first place is not going to steer you home. By the way, I assume there are people reading this topic that are depressed and were lured into it because it may be relative to their thinking. If you are depressed or thinking suicidaly I want to offer you my own time to give you control. It is alot easier than you think to end depression. Most places you go they only offer a bunch of information that gets confusing in your current state of mind, they offer try to fix it. But it is very hard to steer someone back on the road who has lost the steering wheel. The state of mind you get in results in making it feel so impossible and hopeless to try because it just sounds like noise but the sadness remains. What I've learned is called truth basic and it will allow you to steer yourself. You will learn very quickly and easily that you have the ability to get a handle and control and make the choice as how you want to feel WHILE you deal with the issues. PM if you are one of these people. In the meantime I will write a very strait forward simple guide that will take that feeling of happyness or hope that you may of just had and feed off of it to only add more wellbeing. Simple way to get control again, and turn on the light so you can actually read the help that is offered. It is better to try than to die... and if you wonder why, look yourself in the eye. Quote
