C1ay Posted November 8, 2005 Report Posted November 8, 2005 Researchers say smoking a hookah is becoming increasingly trendy item in Mediterranean restaurants, cafes and bars -- but it can damage your teeth. The researchers found water pipe smoking was largely as harmful as cigarette smoking. The prevalence of periodontal diseases was 30 percent in water pipe smokers, 24 percent in cigarette smokers and eight percent in non-smokers. More at ScienceDaily.... Quote

Iron4ever Posted November 8, 2005 Report Posted November 8, 2005 oh, the same bong used to smoke cannibus? Is this used for tobacco too?? It is nowadays, originally a Middle-Eastern smoking tradition.Tobacco is traditionally soaked in fruit shavings such as strawberry, apples or grapes. This mixture is then smoked through a large water pipe (called a Shisha in the Middle East). Men and women of the upper classes in the Arab world have been entertaining guests with Shisha pipes for centuries. Ill leave it there seeing as this is a Science forum not a history lesson of the bong!!! Quote
carlton-temple Posted March 10, 2009 Report Posted March 10, 2009 i believe you are right. There is no mention of a "hookar's" effect on French gnashers like mine! Quote
