ANGELSP Posted June 2, 2004 Report Posted June 2, 2004 Hello , the other day I discover a graphic technique very useful to solve math problems ... It has got foundations of different branches of the knowledge ... There are a few examples of how to solve math problems ahh the technique is "Mind Graph"Best RegardsAngel S.P.
Tormod Posted June 2, 2004 Report Posted June 2, 2004 Great stuff - I don't believe you stumbled over this "a couple of days ago", though. Not that I understand any of it...do you mind giving us a brief explanation of why this notation is different than the standard one? If you put up a link to Hypography I'll add your site to our mathematics category. Tormod
ANGELSP Posted June 7, 2004 Author Report Posted June 7, 2004 Hello Tormod: Ok... It is true ... I am the creator of this stuff ... :-) I can put you a link in http://www.mind-graph.net/events.htm pr5 My datas: http://www.mind-graph.net/mind-graph.htm Mind Graph : graphiclanguage to solve problemsgraphic technique for problem solving formath, programming, studyng, note-taking and brainstorming. About this method ...The first thing that you should know is that you begins putting the topic on the center of the paper The center can be a word, a drawing, a sentence, etc You can developing that central topic with the help of questions (arrows) The growth of the drawing is from the center to the periphery It has 3 elements: the boxes, the arrows and the extensions lines The extensions lines and the boxes are very similar semantically The boxes are to store the information The arrows are to extract information (like a function) I was a little busy this days because I put all the things free of charge. Best Regards Angel S.P.
ANGELSP Posted June 7, 2004 Author Report Posted June 7, 2004 I use internet explorer ... I use the latest versions of internet explorer ...It can be the principal reasonsby the way, what do you mean with "your pages are blank"? ... :-o you can see what google see in http://www.delorie.com/web/lynxview.cgi?url=http://www.mind-graph.net/events.htm
Freethinker Posted June 7, 2004 Report Posted June 7, 2004 Simple. I use an Industry Standards Compliant browser, Mozilla. It, like Netscape (Mozilla is an Open Source version) and Opera, are designed to work with any and all web sites that follow W3 Industry Standards. IE, which is a discontinued product, does not follow Industry Standards. What I mean by BLANK, is that when I go to your site, I get a BLANK window. NOTHING! When you design a web site, unless you only want a limited percent of Net users to view your site, you need to try various browsers to see what others will see. I suggest you go to: <a target=_blank class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="http://www.w3.org/">http://www.w3.org/</a> They also have a "Validator" service which checks your site for errors. <a target=_blank class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="http://validator.w3.org/">http://validator.w3.org/</a> It shows that the first thing it hits is a re-direct The URL you gave me, <,"><a target=_blank class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="http://www.mind-graph.net>,]http://www.mind-graph.ne">http://www.mind-graph.net>,</a>[/L] returned a redirect to <<a target=_blank class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="http://">http://www.mind-graph.net/mind-graph.htm>.http://"].[/b]http://www.mind-graph.net/mind-graph.ht">http://www.mind-graph.net/mind-graph.htm>.[/b</a>[/b] and 9 errors. Encoding: utf-8 Doctype: Errors: 9
ANGELSP Posted June 7, 2004 Author Report Posted June 7, 2004 ok , i will try to solve it thank you freethinker (80% of world users use Microsoft Internet Explorer and the errors are trivials)
Freethinker Posted June 7, 2004 Report Posted June 7, 2004 Yes, well perhaps you would have more OTHER visitors if you site WORKED for them? To someone with a hammer, everything looks like nails.
ANGELSP Posted June 7, 2004 Author Report Posted June 7, 2004 Ok , I will work harder ... :-)by the way if you want to see a little about this method you can go to this press release : http://www.prweb.com/releases/2004/1/prweb99006.htm
Tormod Posted June 7, 2004 Report Posted June 7, 2004 Okay Angel, the link is up here: http://www.hypography.com/links.cfm?id=7503 Tormod
ANGELSP Posted June 8, 2004 Author Report Posted June 8, 2004 Hello Tormod: I have yet put the hipography link in events section ... Thank you for "ingenious graphic technique" ... :-)Best regards Angel S.P.
Bo Posted June 8, 2004 Report Posted June 8, 2004 How should i view this technique? It's clearly not a general algorithm, but if i look e.g. at the example of (SUM K) this (if i understand it correctly) isn't a proof. You;ve shown that it works for h=6, not the general case. Is it possible to use your technique for general proves? (the standard proof for sum(K) goes by induction). And can you explain what the use is of writing everything connected by lines? I personally find a proof more clear f the various steps are written under each other (but that may of course be because i'm used to that). Bo
Freethinker Posted June 8, 2004 Report Posted June 8, 2004 I am trying to figure out just exactly what it is that you have contributed here? I ahve seen the concept of a central unifying idea connected to other ideas and onward, in this same graphical lay out many times. I do not work with complex math, so can not speak for it's position in that area, but had waited for someone here to comment on it. Then Bo came along. He does use math to that level. Is it some specific icons/ labeling that you are trying to have adopted as a standard? Is it a software program that generated the spiderweb display? (though it seems to be hand written). Just what exactly are you saying you are contributing here?
ANGELSP Posted June 8, 2004 Author Report Posted June 8, 2004 I am contributing to show you a different form of making the things. With this system (mind graph) the problem ( to demonstrate sumatory for induction) that proposes bob can be solved.I think that you are a little annoying because I use internet explorer... : -) I am a computer science student andI know "something" about maths ... :-o
Freethinker Posted June 8, 2004 Report Posted June 8, 2004 Internet Explorer is MORE than a little annoying. See the IE Popup thread. We do computer networks and we don;t have anywhere near the problems with accounts that use Opera or Netscape. Those that use IE and Outlook (Express) are being attacked all the time. We make good money cleaning them up over and over. But that has nothing to do with my not understanding what you are doing that is different regarding thought process. And as I posted, I don't do that level math so I can't speak to it's math usage. Or is it strictly math usage that you are promoting? Your post and examples on the press release page show text usage also.
ANGELSP Posted June 8, 2004 Author Report Posted June 8, 2004 Hello FreeThinker:Yes , this method can be used for "math" problem solving , "computer science" proplem solving, programming, studyng , note-taking , knowledge-representation , memorization and brainstorming. This forum is "Physics and Maths" then I give you an example of math problem solving.Best Regards Angel S.P.

I have seen the concept of a center idea with branches many times. How is this different? Is it in software? Is it object oriented?
