Mercury Posted December 4, 2005 Report Posted December 4, 2005 hmm, I would consider the so called "alternative" rock to just be rock. I certainly wouldn't call it progressive. I don't know why they ever called it alternative, it was mainstream, all the posers listened to it when I was in highschool. What was it an alternative to if it was the mainstream music? I am not sure either. :naughty: But what I know is there are different kinds of "rock": Adult Alternative, Alternative Rock, Classic Rock, The Coffeehouse, Cool as Folk, Hard Rock, Indie Rock, Metal, Metalcore, Soft Rock, Emo, Hair Flare, Power Ballads, Progressive Rock, Punk Rock, Ska, etc. Quote
Guadalupe Posted December 5, 2005 Report Posted December 5, 2005 Jazz. Most definitely. :Glasses: Quote

Pyrotex Posted December 5, 2005 Report Posted December 5, 2005 I selected Rock because that was the music of my youth. Led Zep, Pink Floyd, Moody Blues, Stones, Beatles, Clapton, Crosby Stills & Nash, Jefferson Starship. That's what I play on my car stereo when I can find a station that plays it. At home, my turntable has died for the last time, and I can't play my treasured LPs until I save up enough for a new one. Donations will be accepted. :naughty: When I am feeling sad, I play Miles Davis (Jazz) very loud. At work, I listen to electronica, light classical and Enya. Queso 1 Quote
Drip Curl Magic Posted December 5, 2005 Report Posted December 5, 2005 When I am feeling sad, I play Miles Davis (Jazz) very loud. mmm, Miles Davis. I love. I usually listen to jazz when I am in a content state of mind. I meditate to jazz sometimes. It's very pleasant... since most jazz has no vocal tracks. Infact, I'm listening to Jaga Jazzist right now:Music: :naughty: Tormod 1 Quote

Tarantism Posted December 6, 2005 Report Posted December 6, 2005 oof. i have never really thought about having a favorite "style" of music. everything is so different. oh well, i put jazz. Quote
Pyrotex Posted December 21, 2005 Report Posted December 21, 2005 I selected "Weird Stuff (Electronica, etc.)", but only because my real favorite was not listed: New Age. :cup:Would New Age include so-called Space Sounds music? I really like that stuff, especially when I first go to bed and can totally relax. Trouble is, it is hard to know what is good and what sucks. Too many no-name artists. If they don't put really good psychedelic art work on the cover, how the hell are you to know if the music is any good? :cup: Quote
Tormod Posted December 22, 2005 Report Posted December 22, 2005 I meditate to jazz sometimes. It's very pleasant... since most jazz has no vocal tracks. Uhm...tell that to all the famous jazz singers out there... Infact, I'm listening to Jaga Jazzist right now:Music:  You're just saying that to get rep points. :eek2: Quote
space cadet Posted December 23, 2005 Report Posted December 23, 2005 Oh, there's a music thread on this forum!I'm going with the weird although I would never pin myself down to a particular genre. Recently I've been buying plenty of vintage jazz vinyl (Ornette Coleman – genius), but right now I'm listening to Salvatore (får jeg poeng for det Tormod?). When it comes to population size vs. great musical output no place can touch Norway (sorry, Jamaica's a one-trick pony). If there's a label as consistently brilliant as Rune Grammofon I've yet to find out about it! God Jul og Skål! (reaches for the malt...) Quote
