Ver Posted December 9, 2005 Author Report Posted December 9, 2005 Hi GahdI see, but you have to realise tha photons don't really slow down unless in a medium(and yes the gas swirling around the hole is a medium, but we'll disregard that for now...); Photons change their wavelength where other particles change their speed. Dave R-It is hard to reconcile a stalled photon on an event horizon as a wavelength change. You must go from the first four examples to see how I am saying there is absolutely no speed change- just the progress speed along the line of altitude to an outside observer. Quote Gahd--Keeping that in mind, Photons Can overtake each other; if the medium reacts stronger with one wavelength than another and two photons of these different wavelengths are travelling within the medium. Dave R This is what I believe cannot happen . Whatever the frequency I understood it was against the "law" Quote Gahd -Back to the black holes; I fail to see how any photon capeable of an escape would orbit more than once unless the hole itself is moving at some interesting angle in relation to the orbit, in which case it better be a VERY interesting angle. Dave R-I presume you disagree with the Astrophysicist at this point- and agree with me.regards Dave R Quote
