How can marijuana be illegal, How can mushrooms be illegal. Yet alcohol and caffeine are legal. Plus stick anything in pill form, and now its legal, we got legalized speed(adarol), meth, heroine(oxycotton), and even thc pills. How can you take plants that grow on this planet earth, that if god exist he put here. You think he Accidently stuck them here, and was like OMG , THERE's MARIJUANA PLANTS AND MUSHROOMS EVERYWHERE, DAMN I HOPE THESE PEOPLE DON't EAT THEM!!!!!!!

There is so much more **** worse for you that is legal. Why the hell are these plants illegal. Give me some legit reason that makes sense, because it confuses the hell out of me that something that gives so much creativity, helps you get in touch and appreciate nature, opens your mind, gets you to question things, why is something like this illegal (thats mushrooms), weed makes you creative, it gets you to question also and ok i guess it makes you lazy.., we don't want people sleeping and being lazy do we...oh wait but we have fast food resturants, drive throughs, you can almost order anything now in days online, we don't even need to leave the house anymore.

Why are these plants illegal!:cup:

politics want to get voted in.

oddly though, bush in his second term as an economist and psychopathic jack*** didn't legalize marijuana.

So I can't tell you why these things have not been legalized yet. Perhaps there is some higher power than politics at work. The NWO?

If you don't like it, move to amsterdam. I always wanted to have an army of scientists and have them all move to amsterdam. We could do whatever we wanted, whenever we wanted.

The drug prohibition would be hard to reverse because it creates a lot of jobs. Firstly, it create high paying tax free jobs for the inner city. Next the lawyers make a lot a money. Then comes law enforcement, the prison system, and the justice system (more for lawyers). The polititians also can pretend to be strong without having to do or solve anything. The medical and psychological industries also benefit via treatment programs necessitated by the prohibition. All the jobs and money thta is created trickles into the economy, making money for gun manufacturers, the bling industry, etc., etc., One should not forget about kickbacks and campaign contributions, etc.

Great Topic, and good insight!

I couldn't agree more...

Cigarettes are quite Legal, but are so sickeningly bad for you.

Why? 'cuz the Good ol' Boy network that owns Philip Morris and those other "death peddlers" have Legislators in their pocket.

Also, another note on Cigarretes: They want to kill you slowly. $5 - 10 daily OUT of your wallet, then you get sick. The Hospitals then take over and take the rest! I see NO benefit with cigarettes. :eek2:

But to answer Your First real question about why Mary Jane is illegal:

I heard from two reliable sources, who are wise beyond my years:

The reason Marijuana is illegal, More specifically "Hemp" and related products is because of Nylon!

Seems dude who invented Nylon, (ie Nylon rope etc.) was influential enough to get legislators to outlaw Hemp, as it was Serious competition for his product!!

Plus, these 'moral' Beaurocrats saw it as a reason to get rid of something they probably didn't want around anyways.

Hence the Smear Campaign began; Ie " Reefer Madness " the movie and other Propoganda.

Whether the Nylon bit is True, I can't say for certain.

Have any of you heard that???

yes but if it were legalized then people could start buisnesses selling the finest strains of cannibus sativa. also, for all of us who smoke now, you would be paying less for larger amounts of weed because everyone will try to have the best deals, jsut like any every-day product.

also, just to be mischivious, one might suggest that legalizing marijuana could save our economy...

but im right there with you Sun, its such a silly thing.

I know the hypocracy of the goverment gets to me aswell. When you think about how legalizing cannabis would be benificial not just for the general population but for the goverment aswell its astounding its still illlegal.

Just think about the streets being filled with calm giggling stoners on a friday night, not the normal agressive drunks who startfights and vandalise buildings causing millions of pounds of damage that we the tax payers have to pay.

The amount of money that could be made by legal sales of cannabis would be massive, not to mention the millions in tax money to the goverment.

Aswell as this even though I do condone the use of cannabis, I think it should be harder for minors to obtain as at the moment even kids as young as 11 are smoking copious amounts. Restricting the sale of cannabis to over 18s would dramatically decrease the use of cannabis at early ages along with the effect of the 'kewls' not wanting to smoke as the 'im breaking the law and im cool' would not apply.

There are issues now, though, what with the new "super skunk" strains. The THC content is so far beyond the natural hemp that it's altogether another thing, and a few puffs will white-out a new user.

So if it were made legal, it would have to be controlled via the same sort of deal as drink, where-in tax on beer/hemp is lower than tax on fortified wine/skunk, which is lower than spirits/super-skunk, with labels and stuff to suit.

One can argue with some credibility that, at least marijuana, is legal in several US states and Canadian provinces. In these several jurisdictions, Marijuana law can be considered a constitutional law debate over the which government – state or federal, in the US case – is really making the law.

As you might expect, when a state gets into a legal squabble with the US federal government, it usually looses. A political cynic such as myself is inclined to explain this largely as the result of who’s cops have the biggest guns and nastiest dispositions, though, to a legal expert, I’m sure the situation appears much more complicated.

Unfortunately, the US Constitution’s enumeration of powers is vague on the issue of drugs. The lack of any mention of them in the Constitution’s body, and the 10th Amendment – “The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the states, are reserved to the states respectively, or to the people.” – would seem pretty clearly state that the Fed should keep its drug police out of the states’ business when it comes to everything about drugs except the trading in them across state lines, but that’s not how the law has actually played out.

Why are drugs illegal???, esp. Marijuana and mushrooms ( Natural stuff )

CraigD makes an excellent statement with the constitutionality of it!

1) They want to keep people locked up, cut off form any social benefits, and want you to show conformity. Like Orby has said in earlier posts.

2) They don't want you to Question...??? All you 60's and 70's hippies already know, so I'm preaching to the choir. :xparty:

3) people in control want to stay in control. If you legalized drugs, hypothetically, and all hell broke loose, then that could be scary, to "them".

at least for now.

4) Some people think that you shouldn't do drugs period, and you are better off dealing with your issues "straight". ( which for some people I know , thats probably the best recourse. )

5) Just because you and your friends have a nice and enlightening "high".

and you can use without jurisdiction, that doesn't mean the 'typical' dumb-*** Mo-Fo American won't do something totally stupid/dangerous!!!

(drugs as an excuse for bad behavior)

that angers me, the drugs as an excuse for rape, excuse for hooking up, cheating, drugs as an excuse for this or that, drugs and alcohol both. not to be sexiest but girls seam to use the excuse the most. "whats going on hehehe":naughty:

Whether the Nylon bit is True, I can't say for certain.

Have any of you heard that???

I read that in addition to nylon, part of the big push to outlaw marijuana was DuPont (or Monstanto) having created a chemical that is used to turn wood pulp into paper. Before this time, hemp paper was the most common paper.

And the book implied that Hearst had a vested interest in this product because he had just made a huge investment in thousands of acres of trees. Hearst used his newspapers to begin a huge smear campaign against marijuana users.

Found it. This book:

I saw a doco some years ago that laid the blame at the feet of the cotton industry. Apparently, hemp was cheaper and easier to grow and process, but made a more durable fibre, and in addition, the relatively new cotton factories would have had to retool completely to process the new fibre. The captains of industry at the time had the ear of the government and persuaded them to introduce laws banning hemp.

Another aspect of this is the influence of the chemical industry. Hemp grows quite prolifically without the use of fertilisers, and insecticides are unnecessary as the part of the plant that is used in fibre making (the stalks) is not attacked by insects.

Coupled with this was the general pseudo-upright (in public, at least) societal thinking at the time in regards to all intoxicants that gave rise to alcohol prohibition.

really? so those are the reasons that cannibus is illigal? or are those just a few? a lot of people, in the US at least, are under the impression that smoking cannibus causes cancer...when there have been studies conducted that show that not only does cannibus not increase the risk of a smokers lung cancer, it also may prevent the spread of cancerous toumers.

if this is infact correct, we may not only see the legalization of cannibus as iminant, but also mass use of the weed for health purposes. awesome.

Cannabis contains tars, so is carcinogenic if smoked. Of course, it doesn't contain a lot of the chemicals that the tobacco companies insist on lacing their cigarettes with, so it's probably less harmful.

if yuo smoke cannibas with a vaperizer...the tar is almost extinct its like a 300+ difference, umm. i wish i could give you the correct numbers and what they mean, this girl explained it to me, it was interesting, im sure someone can give you guys the real facts i don't have enough interest to look it up but yeah, vape it.:)
