TheBigDog Posted December 24, 2005 Report Posted December 24, 2005 After first dedicating time to my wife, my four sons, my dog, and my job, I will try to keep up with these forums. It is nice to take part in a discussion that forces me not only to think, but to learn as well. I will do my best to keep everyone else thinking and learning too. Bill I was born in 1968 in Phoenix AZ. I am a senior project manager in the IT department of a large chemical/manufacturing company. I tinker with programming and mathmatics. I also spend some time ranting about politics, and keeping the boys from destroying things around the house. Quote

TheBigDog Posted February 28, 2006 Author Report Posted February 28, 2006 welcome to hypography, bill. Looking forward to hearing your input... :cup: cheers.Well, 500 posts later, I thank you for the warm welcome Drip! As I said in my intro (which seems very formal to me in retrospect), I came here hoping to learn, and hoping that I could teach a little too. And I think I have done at least a little of both. And along the way I seem to met some great people. Maybe by my 1000th post my kids will have names instead of numbers. Who knows? In the mean time I would like to give a salute to my fellow Hypographers for making me feel so welcome! :) :) :) :) ;) ;) :hyper: :hyper: :) :) :hyper: :hyper: :hyper: :hyper: :hyper: :hyper: :hyper::hyper: :hyper: :hyper: :hyper: :hyper: :hyper: :D  :beer:        :beer:        :beer:        :beer:        :beer:        :beer:        :beer:        :beer:         There! 99 bottles of beer! TheBigDog Posted July 4, 2006 Author Report Posted July 4, 2006 Here I am again, returning to the begining. Last time I posted here I was at 500 posts. Now I am at 1650. That number is significant to anyone who swam short course events. 1650(yards) was the longest swimming event- 66 laps of a 25 yard pool. So my 1650th post represents to me the completion of a marathon of sorts, as bizarre as the number may be. I was always more of a sprinter than a distance swimmer. And I have been that way with many of my interests in life. They seem to have a short half-life. A flurry of activity followed by a dismissal for something brighter or shinier. And while I have only been posting for a bit over six months here, it is the constant variety, along with the compelling comaradarie that keeps me coming back for more. I think I have a few brews left over from February, so lets drink a couple for Hypography! Cheers Bill Quote
Jay-qu Posted July 5, 2006 Report Posted July 5, 2006 keep up the awesome work BD, will have a few brews for you down under - have a good 4th of july :hyper: Quote
TheBigDog Posted December 24, 2006 Author Report Posted December 24, 2006 2409... Vizzini says when things go wrong you go back to the beginning and wait for Vizzini. Well nothing has gone wrong, but here I am, back at the beginning again. And why? Because this is the first anniversary of my first post on Hypography. Which in fact was this very thread, my own introduction to Hypography. I have a busy day planned, so I don't have time for a very detailed post. But I certainly have time to drop this note, and once again express my thanks to Tormod for the idea of Hypography, and to all the other players for making it the great fun that it is. I even changed my Avatar to mark the occasion. Bill Quote
pgrmdave Posted December 24, 2006 Report Posted December 24, 2006 Congratulations on coming so far, BigDog - I'm very glad that we've had the pleasure of your company for the past year, and hopefully we will have it for years to come (maybe your kids will join someday!) Quote

Happy Anniversary. :( :( Methinketh thou haseth something of the tortoise in'st thou. :( Quote
TheBigDog Posted July 30, 2007 Author Report Posted July 30, 2007 3000. I have bugged many people in the past about making their milestone posts something significant. I never really thought about what I would do for 3000, and now that I am here I still don't have a plan. So when all else fails go back to the beginning and mark the occasion for posterity. Much has changed in the past 13 months since I graced this thread with an update about myself. Last time I was here I had not started college, and I had no plans of doing so. Now I have completed six classes and am half-way through my seventh, making me 15% done with my degree. Last time I was here I had not traveled in nearly two years. In the past three months I have traveled to Mexico twice, the Netherlands twice (including a side trip to Norway), and France once via Germany (I guess I am traveling again :() My oldest son has graduated HS eight weeks ago, and my youngest son begins kindergarten in four weeks. I wonder what the next milestone will be for me to return here? Will I get to 5000 posts before the second anniversary of my first post? Not a chance! At my current rate I may be to my third anniversary before I get to 5000 posts. But there are more important questions than that. Will I ever find the time to create the KatabataKator? Will I ever respond to the replies I got to The Invisible Universe? Will I (or anyone) manage to get enough photos in the scavenger hunt to earn a t-shirt? Only time will tell. The only thing I am pretty certain of is this, I will still be around when it happens, so eventually I will find out. Cheers everyone!  Bill Quote
InfiniteNow Posted July 31, 2007 Report Posted July 31, 2007 Just wait until you double those numbers and get to the plateau from which I'm posting now. You'd be surprised how different things look on the *other* side. Kidding aside, congratulations on all of your successes. Cheers to many more, Bill.  Quote
Tormod Posted July 31, 2007 Report Posted July 31, 2007 You're doing great, Bill. One day you will share the mountaintop with me and the Old Ones. Quote

I checked up on the beginning of the thread and sure enough you confess to tinkering with math, so in the spirit of symbiosis and doing something significant, here is what I have done with 3,000. D50 may we always hasten slowly. ;) Tormod 1 Quote
