Congratulations BD.

While trying to keep up with the high quality standards of Hypography, I can not immagine ever reaching that number of posts - or that variety in your fields of interest.

Here I am again. The kids are all in bed, and Santa is ready to do his magic. But first, with this first opportunity of solitude today, to make my annual pilgrimage back to my introduction post here at Hypography.

Last week I saw something I had never seen before. When I logged into Hypography it gave me a message saying "you have not posted in some time, why don't you join one of our discussions!". I guess my transition from addict to lurker came at me quietly. I remember when I was making 8 posts a day. Now I can go 8 days between posts it seems. But that too shall pass, and I will return at some point in the future to a nice balance between the extremes.

But for the present, it is Christmas Eve, there is a gorgeous full moon outside, and it is a crispy 0c outside. I fell in love with the moon last night. I was driving home along route 20, and there was the moon. I don't recall ever seeing it quite so bright. The whole world was like twilight. The sky was not clear. There were big billowing clouds and a strong wind. The moon was dancing in and out of sight behind the fast moving clouds. At one moment it was lighting the whole world, and the next moment it was the backlight of the most exquisite silver lined facade you have ever witnessed. It brought me back to a memory of watching a lunar eclipse when I was a kid. My dad brought the family out to Rengstorff Park. We layed out a blanket and watched the shadow of the earth flood over the bright face of the moon, then reveal again. My baby sisters were asleep in the warm summer air by the time it happened, and it was a special moment I shared with my dad, as he explained how it was all working. He was working three jobs at the time, and thought it was more important to spend a few hours looking at the moon with his kids than to catch up on much needed sleep. I had a great role model, and as I sit here by the light of the Christmas Tree, and I reflect upon myself, I can only hope that I am up to the challenges before me. But it is funny, I didn't think about that last night while I was driving. I could only think about how damn beautiful the moon was. Beaconing me in a strange way, almost like a primal - even sexual way. Have you ever seen a beautiful woman and been overcome by desire? Sexual might be the wrong word. But a desire none the less, a desire for... well, for justification, appreciation, affection, a smile, or even just a shared glance that for one moment tells you that there is a connection, and as the same way you look onto her with desire, she is looking at you and feeling the same way, and is exalted by your return glance. Well, if you can follow me at all, that is how I felt about the moon last night. And I am not positive, but I think the moon made eye contact with me, and for a brief moment, it was just me and the moon-and everything was perfect. When I got home and parked in the driveway, I lingered for a few moments staring into the sky, and waiting for my love to come out from behind a cloud, and share one last look with me across the night sky. I did fall in love with the moon last night, and in that moment I was as happy as I have ever been.

Merry Christmas, Hypography.

Tonight is the third anniversary of my first post at Hypography, and here I am again back where I started from. No poetry tonight. No tales of Christmas mischief, just the last thing I am doing before going to bed is coming here to wish everyone at Hypography a very Merry Christmas to you and your families. May the jolly old elf give each of you at least one nice reason to smile in the morning. I know he was good to me.

And so this is Christmas

And what have you done

Another year over

A new one just begun

I don't know about y'all, but it has been a good year for me. This is a tradition I have kept up every year. Returning to my introduction post on its anniversary. Tonight I am doing it on the early side of the anniversary rather than the late side, this being the night of the 23rd instead of the night of the 24th.

I first found Hypography doing a Google search back in 2005. Loved the place. I joined that day and then I completely forgot about it. Months later I was doing another search that pointed me back here again and I was surprised to find that I was already a member. That was Christmas 2005; I made my introduction post and have been a busy member and moderator since.

I think what I love most about Hypography is that I can let my inner geek go into full bloom here with pride in my sheer geekness. I am among kindred spirits, and it feels like home.

And now to reintroduce myself. I am a Senior IT Process Specialist (I just made that up) for a large international company. I have four sons, three who live with me. One who is all grown up and has moved in with his mother; my soon to be ex. I am in the middle of getting my degree, but I have taken some time off to perfect the art of being a single dad lest I bite off more than I can chew. I live on the shore of Lake Erie in north-east Ohio in a quiet and peaceful little town. I don't post as often as I once did, but I try to make up for it with quality over quantity.

Merry Christmas Hypography

Post paddings pad postingly?

Nah, great re-introduction, Bill. I know a few things have happened to you since the last time you posted. So when are you bringing the boys over to Norway? :mornincoffee:

I am doing great, Southy. I have been trying to find recipes for South African potatoes. Do you have any?

No, but I can make a new one and try to have it imported. o_O Hey, Boerseun! Bacon grease!

Happy anniversary, Bill! :eek_big:

There are two kinds of spurs, my friend. Those that come in by the door; those that come in by the window,

Buffy

Or four, those who accidentally come in through the window... those who purposefully come in through the door... etc.
