Isn't balance a perception defined by viewpoint? If a person were completely "good", as for example Jesus is often represented to have been, then such a person would have no further referent good on his scale. To such a person almost everyone else and their actions would appear to be "bad". Perhaps this goes some way towards explaining the underlying ideas motivating those who try to present the world and humans as essentially sinful.
