Racoon Posted February 12, 2006 Report Posted February 12, 2006 So.... Who do you Suppose will win the Most events at this years Winter Olympics in Italy. We all root for our home countries to be sure. Lets see who can accurately predict the future!!! Quote
Queso Posted February 12, 2006 Report Posted February 12, 2006 I hope Armenia wins! Candles for the audience Quote
alexander Posted February 12, 2006 Report Posted February 12, 2006 aah, and you would have expected me to vote for Russia or something, but i knew it was a trick :hihi:... i went US, cuz they will most likely take some snowboarding (too bad this 15 year old kid i know could not go(age).... he's a 4 time US national champion already in freestyle, wicked cool kid who spends like 250 days/year on the snowboard), some figure skating, speed skating, some skiing, um, some bobsled, well, you never know, Germany would probably be my second and Russia third.... alexander Posted February 12, 2006 Report Posted February 12, 2006 ps bid dog, its red, white and blue..... :hihi: Quote
Aki Posted February 12, 2006 Report Posted February 12, 2006 CANADA!!!!! We're going to win both the men and women's hockey! Quote
TheBigDog Posted February 12, 2006 Report Posted February 12, 2006 ps bid dog, its red, white and blue..... :)I had it white, but couldn't see it against the background. So I hoped it would kinda sneek past...:hihi: Bill Quote
GAHD Posted February 12, 2006 Report Posted February 12, 2006 GERMANYI root for canada, but I'm realistic too. Quote
alexander Posted February 12, 2006 Report Posted February 12, 2006 psht, canada both hockeys... we'll have to see that, as of right now, i just seen men 5000 speed skate, US took the gold by like 6 seconds, canada was nowhere in sight, Norway took silver if i'm not mistaken and Italy is a definite bronze.... Russia just took the gold and bronze for the short program in figure skating, and i am rooting for US in women's hockey(there are a couple of ladys from CT on the team, they looked pretty good together while traning for a few weeks here, but we'll have to see the first match before i give any more predictions...) oh also the first match of Canadian women's team is tomorrow too, and they are playing Russia if i'm not mistaken, looking forward to that too, peace, chillax and enjoy your weather as i here get pounded with a noreaster (going snow drifting in the morning :hihi: ) Quote
Tormod Posted February 12, 2006 Report Posted February 12, 2006 You can follow the medal development here. Norway currently is #1 by number of medals. http://www.torino2006.org/ENG/IDF/MDL/MDL_Big.html Quote
Tormod Posted February 12, 2006 Report Posted February 12, 2006 Yuck it up Tormod :hihi: Its Norways time to shine!!! :hihi: :hihi: 5 medals so far... Yeah! :hihi: Silly how they count the medal stats in order of golds, silver, and bronze...so that 1 gold is listed higher than any amount of silver and bronze medals. I guess winner takes it all... Things haven't gone quite as expected this weekend but 5 medals in two days... :hihi: Quote
C1ay Posted February 12, 2006 Report Posted February 12, 2006 While I'm rooting for the U.S., Germany usually makes it to the top three consistently in the Winter Olympics. Quote
IrishEyes Posted February 12, 2006 Report Posted February 12, 2006 I'm with alex, TBD and C1ay on this one... USA all the way, baby!! Quote
IrishEyes Posted February 12, 2006 Report Posted February 12, 2006 I really wouldn't mind seeing Italy come in second though. Or even first, if it came down to Italy and some other country (except the US, I gotta root for the home team:) ). I was totally blown away by the Opening Ceremony the other night. Gret and I stayed up and watched it together, and it was very incredible. Any country that a) lets a woman be the one to light the flame, and :hihi: gets Luciano Pavarotti to do the finale - is A-OK in my book. First rate night. could've done without Yoko though. :) Quote
Tormod Posted February 12, 2006 Report Posted February 12, 2006 Yay!!! Two more...a gold and a bronze in the small hill ski jump!!!! :hihi: :) ;) 7 medals in two days! Quote
Guadalupe Posted February 12, 2006 Report Posted February 12, 2006 Here comes the photo finish! :hihi: U.S.A. All the way! ;) :) Quote
alexander Posted February 12, 2006 Report Posted February 12, 2006 dudes, have you seen that finish of men 40km pursuit? it was the craziest one i've seen yet, that dude from Norway, who crashed on the start line, he came back very well into second from last, and then #13 was pretty crazy too, he was 10nth one lap before finish and killed the 2 italians going in first and second on the final straight away, and so did that norwegian guy, he did real good, but wasnt quite there to get the gold....p.s. as i have predicted, so far us got gold and silver in the halfpipe event, also US women's hockey is doing well, opening up the olimpics with a 5:0 over Germany, as well as the Canadian team doing a 12:zip over Russia.... i would guess, it will be US and Canada in the finals...
