Tormod Posted February 16, 2006 Report Posted February 16, 2006 What's up with Canada? They whipped our team's *** in curling! Hey Killean, let them now how things are done in this world. All for peace and fellowship... ;) Quote
Turtle Posted February 18, 2006 Report Posted February 18, 2006 I finally voted the pole; I picked Norsk of coursk! Quote
Tormod Posted February 18, 2006 Report Posted February 18, 2006 I finally voted the pole; I picked Norsk of coursk!:) That's my Turtle! I wonder how in the world of uncertainty principles our little poll will have an effect on the final medal count... :D BTW our women's team were favorites to win the 5K cross country relay but ended up 5th... not good for our medal count. But lots of chances today...biathlon now, super G today, large hill ski jumping, 1000m skating... :D Quote
Tormod Posted February 18, 2006 Report Posted February 18, 2006 How about that Snowboard Gal who had Gold only to try and showboat for the cameras??Silver still isn't too bad. :) And the gal who won is actually Norwegian but is representing the country of her second citizenship. Close call for us. :D We were 2 seconds from a gold in the men's biathlon today but Ole Einar Bjørndalen got the silver (he got 4 golds in Salt Lake City!). And Kjetil Andre Aamodt won his THIRD Olympic Super G gold medal!!! Another great day. :D Quote
Tormod Posted February 18, 2006 Report Posted February 18, 2006 We got another bronze now in the ski jump. Austria snatched both the gold and silver!!! Good going! Quote
Racoon Posted February 21, 2006 Author Report Posted February 21, 2006 Couple of more medals for USA!! Bronze for womens Hockey. Plus a Silver in Ice Dancing?I never knew that was even a sport? guess US hasn't won one of those since I was born.. Looks like Germany is taking the lead. & I knew I should have listed Austria as an option! :) My friend Matthius would kill me! :) (I stayed with him for a couple weeks in Vienna; Wien as its called in the EU) They love to ski there! Quote
Tormod Posted February 21, 2006 Report Posted February 21, 2006 We have lost out on some of our "big" events in the past few days...last night we did get a bronze in the team ski jump. Hoping for some biathlon gold today... :) And another chance to see if our skaters have what it takes in the 1500m. Quote
Tormod Posted February 22, 2006 Report Posted February 22, 2006 Yay...silver in the nordic combined. The biathlon relay was a disaster...one of our guys missed 4 out of 5 targets...how is *possible* to even make it to the Olympics...ack. But Ole Einar Bjørndalen, who took 4 golds in Salt Lake, had a killer last leg and managed to get us up from 12th to 5th... Norway is still on track to be #1 in the medal count but Germany is doing great this time! Quote
InfiniteNow Posted February 22, 2006 Report Posted February 22, 2006 So those two of you who voted for Germany did pretty well... And would Austria be an "An Eastern Block country?" They are 2nd in medals (if I'm not mistaken) and received zero votes... Quote

They are 2nd in medals (if I'm not mistaken) and received zero votes... Austria is most definitely NOT an Eastern Bloc country. :) Norway has lost all chances to get the most medals by not getting a single medal today - we lost both the men's and women's cross-country sprint (go Sweden!) and our women's curling team lost the semi-final... :) We're tied with the US at the moment, on third place. Quote
InfiniteNow Posted February 22, 2006 Report Posted February 22, 2006 We're tied with the US at the moment, on third place. Is Russia no longer tied in 3rd? And, do they give a medal for "tied in 3rd?" It could be like one of those heart key chains with the love poem that is split down the middle... one partner in the relationship takes one half and the other partner takes the other... "I won half a bronze! Woo hoo!" :) Quote
TheBigDog Posted February 22, 2006 Report Posted February 22, 2006 Only in Judo do they give two medals for third. What kind of nonsence is that! Bill Quote

TheBigDog Posted February 23, 2006 Report Posted February 23, 2006 I would like to nominate Curling as the official sport of Hypography. If we ever have a Hypography convention we need to organize it around a curling match. Bill Quote

Tormod Posted February 24, 2006 Report Posted February 24, 2006 IIf we ever have a Hypography convention we need to organize it around a curling match. We had a small convention in New York last year but we only went to the Planetarium, no curling in sight. :) Quote
Tormod Posted February 24, 2006 Report Posted February 24, 2006 The olympics are pretty much over for Norway...three more events (10K skates, biathlon, 50K cross-country). In the last three days we have earned lots of 4th places and no medals. But still ... almost 20 medals isn't bad at all. I only wish we had taken more golds. :) And our cross country team has failed miserably, as has our skater team. And the biathlon team. And...uhm...enough already. Quote
