InfiniteNow Posted February 21, 2006 Report Posted February 21, 2006 Why are humans so fascinated by seemingly adolescent topics and concepts? I mean, why is a fart so funny? Why can you not help but laugh at the term booger? Why am I so captivated by a beautiful pair of breasts? How can I fall so far into the eyes of a beautiful woman, as if they were black holes? Why are the stars so intriguing? Is it just some relic of our development, or is there something more to it all? Quote
Turtle Posted February 21, 2006 Report Posted February 21, 2006 To paraphrase Aristophenes in a gender inclusive form, "adults are children writ big." It does give some hope that not everyones' inner child is absent. Quote
TheFaithfulStone Posted February 21, 2006 Report Posted February 21, 2006 Also - Is there anything in the world that isn't ultimately about sex and/or violence? I ask because I find myself enjoying ice dancing immensely. Which is certainly adolescent. TFS[but did you see them skimpy outfits?] Quote
Queso Posted February 21, 2006 Report Posted February 21, 2006 I don't know. Kids are high,SO high, my friends. I lost my curiosity for EVERYTHING when I struggled to be something DIFFERENT! I still had passions, But around 12 I began to "lose my innocence"and no longer played with legos. A few years of smoking herb brought me back though,I feel like a child againJust with a lot more knowledge. So fascinated and in awe.So strange and bi-polar.It's fun now that I can think for myself,Curiosity within selections.my girlfriend eats her boogers. Quote
Jay-qu Posted February 21, 2006 Report Posted February 21, 2006 my girlfriend eats her boogers. :) well it is supposed to be good for the immune system..:) It is wierd that on a very fundamental level we are curious about how the universe works and I think that everyone is, but most people dont think they are smart enough to contribute to these discussions so instead of learning they remain ignorant..What purpose does it serve for us to be curious? If curiosity really killed the cat then I guess we are in even bigger trouble  :) Quote
Racoon Posted February 21, 2006 Report Posted February 21, 2006 whew. The Title of this thread had me thinking it was about kiddy porn, or Jail Bait. I think we all remember our adolescence with fondness. (unless you had a crappy, abusive upbringing)We didn't have to work or pay bills. Its a time of extreme insecurity, selfishness, and exploration. High school is like the best years. You're young, you don't think about mortality. All the experiences are so new and vivid. The first time you got laid, drunk, or stoned. The crush you had on that girl. The desire to be popular. Tons of psychological research has been done on this.By the time you're 21 or so, your personality is pretty much set. Quote
Queso Posted February 22, 2006 Report Posted February 22, 2006 um...high school was probably the worst time of my life.I dropped out when I started to really THINK(the high schools in Manatee County, FL are menacing.redneck Kids have nooses on their keychains...) steven hawkings "a brief history of time" was the key that opened up that first door. How ironic-It was a "summer reading book" anyways..."To each their own" - john my room mate Quote
Queso Posted February 22, 2006 Report Posted February 22, 2006 p.s. It was mortality that first drove me crazy! (In high school)Now it brings peace to my heartbeat i caN NOT STAND feeling. Quote
Racoon Posted February 22, 2006 Report Posted February 22, 2006 Well thats just too damn bad Orby! High school was great for me, even though I wasn't great! :) It is a time of serious psychological repercussions. :) Deal with it... Quote
InfiniteNow Posted February 22, 2006 Author Report Posted February 22, 2006 So... yeah... how come? Why? Quote

Queso Posted March 3, 2006 Report Posted March 3, 2006 They are new, absorbing, and devloping a brainthat will one day realize the difference between itselfand the mindthat it claims to be losing. Imagine being new again. You'll find SOME answers there, not all. Quote
ingannilo Posted March 5, 2006 Report Posted March 5, 2006 Sadly, I only have an answer to one Why am I so captivated by a beautiful pair of breasts? Now, if you get to distinguishing large breasts from beautiful breasts, count me out. (as long as we're trying to be scientific that is :hyper:) However, it is my understanding that breasts are like hips as far as why men cannot resist their alure. As hips bare children, breasts nourish them.So we're attracted to women who can (obviously :steering: ) by the size of her breasts, hips, lips, other seemingly illogical sexualy taboo elements of anatomy, give birth to, nourish, and support offspring. my two bits. The crush you had on that girl. The desire to be popular. Tons of psychological research has been done on this.By the time you're 21 or so, your personality is pretty much set. Middle school/ early highschool were THE worst for me. I started thinking. Thinking about things that most other pre-teen/teenagers weren't thinking about. I lost my faith in man-kind as a whole. I lost my spirituality(I've never been religious due to my upbringing). I thought of very depressing stuff all the time. I was also very depressed because I hated the way the school system worked. Your grades were based on your work ethic... not your intelligence.... which bothered the hell out of me.... because I've always had a sloth like work ethic when it came to anything I wasn't interested in. I've never been interested in any sort of general ED. School in general, was HELL for me. Luckily, i discovered the proficiency... and graduated a year and three months early. I also discovered weed during middle school. Which helped me relax a little. Then.... Shrooms in highschool. Which made me happy again. I started feeling like I was in elementary school again. Being able to laugh at the innocent things in life again was a huge relief. Then... after i graduated highschool. I discovered the power of many other psychadelics. After doing acid, I was happy again. I felt like a child again. Everything seems so much more fresh and new. I feel like I can appreciate everything a little more with the help of psychadelics. I think the key to being happy... is just not growing up in spirit. Being too serious is far too boring. I think that as we grow older, it's harder to realize how beautiful everything is. A flower. Lots of people grow numb to the sight of a flower.... and stop caring. I stopped caring for a while. Then I re-discovered the world. And now... I'm so amazed by so many things. Thank god for psychadelics. They saved me. Seriously. Quote

John mmm, you think like I do, john. I realized while I was on shrooms once.... that wide hips are naturally sexy because it's more likely for a woman with large hips to be able to carry and give birth to a baby. But I never really thought of the large breast idea. But it makes total sense. Glad to see you signed up finally, john. happy posting. Quote
InfiniteNow Posted March 5, 2006 Author Report Posted March 5, 2006 You guys should check out something called the "waist to hip ratio." It's exactly what you are talking about, just made scientific. A guy named Devendra Singh, an old professor of mine, is credited with coming up with it. Females should be 0.7 and males 0.9... roughly. Despite how heavy or big boned you are, if your ratio is close the above, you are seen as fertile and healthy... it's not cultural either, but confirmed across the globe and across cultures. Quote
