Pyrotex Posted February 27, 2006 Report Posted February 27, 2006 Saturday, February 25, 2006, was a wonderful day.It was the day I met a fellow Hypographer for the first time! The FH in question was none other than InfiniteNow, aka, Sean.It was a cool day, just before noon, and my wife (Gwen) and I had just entered the outskirts of Austin, Texas. I gave a call to the cell phone number InifiteNow had given me Friday, and heard his voice. I just said "hello!". He responded, "who is this?" I did my best imitation of Darth Vader and said, "This is Pyrotex." We met at a restaurant he suggested, Guero's Tacos on Capital Blvd, on the south side of Austin. Great funky neo-Sixties neighborhood! Ancient homes and stores renovated just days before they would have collapsed, and turned into magic shops and eateries. Sean was waiting for us and managed to spot me immediately. How did he do that? The food was wonderful and so was the conversation. Of course, we talked shamelessly about ALL of YOU! :hyper: We told Gwen about the "booger head" incident and how Sean lost and then regained his reputation, and we laughed our asses off, to the great amusement of the tables nearby. This thread is for Hypographers to tell the story of how they first met a FH in person. Even if that event occured before they became Hypographers. Enjoy!!! Quote
InfiniteNow Posted February 27, 2006 Report Posted February 27, 2006 On Saturday, February 25, I met this complete jerk named Nelson. He was so houdie toudie and smug that I could barely breathe. Fortunately, there were loads of cute women around us so I could at least distract myself a bit as he droaned on endlessly about complete dribble and nonsense. Fortunately for me, he didn't notice my discontent... :hyper::):hihi::):hihi: Kidding! :hyper:  I had a wonderful time, and honestly felt like I'd known him for a long time since I had some clue as to his background and stance on various topics. Wouldn't it be cool if we could get a bunch of Hypographites together and go sailing or something? Man... can you imagine the topics of conversation during such a cruise? Thanks for the props, Pyrotex. The pleasure was entirely mine. Who else on the site has met after having exchanged dialogue on this site? Quote
Pyrotex Posted February 27, 2006 Author Report Posted February 27, 2006 ...Fortunately, there were loads of cute women around ...Well, you were right about the cute women, mister "Central Casting". "Marge, get on the horn and have them send me a couple of Cherokee reservation Indians and an Austin, Texas hippie." Loricybin Posted February 28, 2006 Report Posted February 28, 2006 well, i suppose this would count, though it isn't nearly as big a deal as some kind of vast travel or rare meeting. . . armofreek, orbsycli, inside the sun, tartanism, and myself all went to the same middle school the same years. shortly after that, i met drip curl magic and bpj g 2fat in high school. i believe orb was the first hypographite, with sun and drip following, and the rest coming on shortly after that. i'm very proud that our social circle has evolved so well mentally.i love all of you guys:) Quote
Boerseun Posted February 28, 2006 Report Posted February 28, 2006 Sean was waiting for us and managed to spot me immediately. How did he do that? Not because you actually do look like a stamp, maybe? Quote
Pyrotex Posted February 28, 2006 Author Report Posted February 28, 2006 Not because you actually do look like a stamp, maybe?Sirrah, I resemble that remark! Thanks. You've given me my "big laugh" of the day, and I appreciate that. Now shut up and go away.:hyper: P.S.: And that's a "Five Dollar Stamp" to you, buddy! And YOU look like a... like a... My god, what IS that?!?!? Quote
Racoon Posted February 28, 2006 Report Posted February 28, 2006 well, i suppose this would count, though it isn't nearly as big a deal as some kind of vast travel or rare meeting. . . armofreek, orbsycli, inside the sun, tartanism, and myself all went to the same middle school the same years. shortly after that, i met drip curl magic and bpj g 2fat in high school. i believe orb was the first hypographite, with sun and drip following, and the rest coming on shortly after that. i'm very proud that our social circle has evolved so well mentally.i love all of you guys:) That would explain a lot! You buncha' Hippies :hyper: :) :hyper: Everyone knows that Turtle and Rac have seen each.other quite a bit.Enough for my liking anywayz. :) Aside from being friends, we also have mutual friends. Boerseun Posted February 28, 2006 Report Posted February 28, 2006 Maybe we should start a new trend of actually using our real photos for avatars - that way we can get to know each other a bit more personal? Only a thought... look, I've changed to using my photo! Quote
Pyrotex Posted February 28, 2006 Author Report Posted February 28, 2006 ...my photo!Wow! Shiny! Pleased to meetya! Now, if I can only get this tightwad company to spring for a copy of PhotoShop, maybe I can get my photo up. Quote
Tormod Posted February 28, 2006 Report Posted February 28, 2006 Only a thought... look, I've changed to using my photo! What happened to the mullet!!! :hyper: My first meeting with a Hypographite was when I met pgrmdave, beccareb, zadojla and Alexander in New York! And shortly after I met IrishEyes and nemo. Wonderful people, all of them! I had plans to meet MortenS but so far they have remained plans...shame on me considering we work in the same city! (Let's do something about that Morten!) Quote

Boerseun Posted February 28, 2006 Report Posted February 28, 2006 Mr. Tormod - for a 3-year old, you're quite eloquent, I'd say... Quote
Killean Posted March 1, 2006 Report Posted March 1, 2006 First official contact with a fellow hypographite would be Aaron (GAHD). A couple friends of mine brought me to a party out in the woods. The bonfire was getting low so I left to find some wood when I found GAHD trying to collect some wood. I hung with him trying to help when we came to the conclusion that we should get an axe and cut some wood. I'm not sure if he was a member of Hypography then, but he was the one to introduce me. If we don't count the person who introduced me to it, my first meeting with a hypographite would be October 11th 2005. After a looooong flight, and leaving him standing in the airport for over an hour after my flight had arrived (my luggage was delayed in Germany), I met Mr. Guldvog, where we spent a week up at his beautiful cabin. Then after a nice relaxive period (OMG! Two web geeks without the internet for a week! Screw Chinese torture!), I got to spend my last week exploring Oslo and meeting his wonderful family. Quote
GAHD Posted March 1, 2006 Report Posted March 1, 2006 Wow, fellow hypographers.well, like Killean says I met him at a drunken bush party, and he was nice enough to walk me to his place and bring an axe back (the stuff horror films are made of). I also met a certain 'ghostblaze' at my friend Mike's highschool, he's a computer nut too. I met him while I was sitting in the lounge area, where surprisingly nobody noticed I was out of place for a few hours. Other than those two i don't think I've had the pleasure. Quote
Jay-qu Posted March 1, 2006 Report Posted March 1, 2006 well i only live near 2 other hypographers - Rincewind and minna (minna no longer posts) and although we found out later we where at the same place at the same time we didnt actually meet.. If anyone is going to be in Melbourne make sure you tell me and i would be glad to meet! P.S :hyper: wow its Boerseun! what a strapping young fellow:hihi: Quote
Turtle Posted March 1, 2006 Report Posted March 1, 2006 ___As far as I know I only know that I know Racoon, who I have never seen without his mask except here. I may have met him a decade ago, or I may have met him this coming Spring. Whatever the case, I make an effort to meet as few people as possible within visual or auditory range. I am not opposed to meeting people without knowing it, if they don't know it either.___Insert prolonged awkward silence;.......................uhm....................uh................:hyper: Oh! I know; this is funny too. Just looking at peoples family photos makes me uncomfortable (visual range violation:naughty: ), but one time I went into a K-Mart with friends after we left a bar where they were kidding me about shyness & I embarrased them by going through the photos of strangers that were waiting for pickup. Touche!:phones: Dark Mind 1 Quote
