Jay-qu Posted December 20, 2006 Report Posted December 20, 2006 Good old days. :phones: Anyways, Jay-qu called me today, from Australia. While not the same as meeting in "real life" it was nice talking to someone halfway around the world. It was around half past midnight for him, and 2:30pm for me, and neither of us had any sunlight. I'm still hoping to meet some Hypographers when I go to San Francisco in March! :)Yeah we had a good 'ol chat :) Since there is not much chance of me meeting any of you any time soon, if you want a chat just PM me your number (mobile/cell, blackberry, home.. whatever) and I we can set up a time for a call ;) Quote
Buffy Posted December 20, 2006 Report Posted December 20, 2006 Well, BigDog, Now and I had a fabulous little FLASHCHAT the other evening when BD was well on his way to his major hangover. Drip dropped in for a while too. Nifty little thing, that flashchat...we should really try to use it more often to use up Tormod's bandwidth allowance on Hypography! Chattily,Buffy Quote
Killean Posted December 20, 2006 Report Posted December 20, 2006 Nifty little thing, that flashchat...we should really try to use it more often to use up Tormod's bandwidth allowance on Hypography! We have a bandwidth limit? Tormod, why wasn't I informed of this? Heads will fly, I assure you. :phones: Quote
TheBigDog Posted May 1, 2007 Report Posted May 1, 2007 OK, I have waited long enough! This past week I was in Leiden, Netherlands, for work. It was a busy week on a fun project. Long days and then plenty of culture to experience at night. In addition to walking the sweet little city of Leiden, I enjoyed spending time with coworkers from all over the world. Highlights include dinner at an Italian restaurant that was eight courses served over four hours. No menu, you just sat down and ate what they served. It was spectacular. Plus plenty of walking; far more than I am used to in the US. My plan was to tour around Leiden and Amsterdam over the weekend with a friend from work as my return flight was not until Monday. So on Wednesday I was at work, and during a break I got some inspiration and I started shopping for cheap flights to other European locations, and wouldn't you know it, there was a round-trip on Friday returning Sunday for less than my hotel rate for those same days! A plan was born, and I was heading to Oslo to spend the weekend with Tormod! Quote
TheBigDog Posted May 1, 2007 Report Posted May 1, 2007 The weekend was fantastic. I have been getting to know Tormod since I joined Hypography, and we have chatted for many hours. I recently called him at his hotel while he was in San Francisco and we talked for a long time. I have had similar chats with other members, and I have spoken with Pyrotex (and his lovely wife) on the phone while he was recovering from his shoulder surgery last year, but this was the first time I would be meeting a fellow Hypographer in the flesh. Tormod picked me up at the airport and we drove back to his apartment, smiling and chatting all the while. At the house I met the lovely Yvonne. The girls were already in bed, but they got up and shyly said hello in some strange language before returning to bed. Quote
TheBigDog Posted May 1, 2007 Report Posted May 1, 2007 Tormod has a spectacular view of the Oslo Fjord and the city of Oslo from his living room and patio. We had a beer and some Scotch and stayed up late talking about all the things that never come up while typing. I am not going into a play-by-play of the whole visit. Suffice to say that Oslo is a wonderful city; full of fun, history, and cultural interests. The Guldvogs are warm and generous hosts; and most important they are great friends. I look forward to visiting again in the future, and I recommend Oslo in the springtime to anyone who is planning to visit Europe. My deepest thanks to Tormod, Yvonne, Jenny, and Emily for the warm hospitality, and for sharing with me a fantastic weekend. Bill Quote
TheBigDog Posted May 1, 2007 Report Posted May 1, 2007 At this point you may be asking yourself two questions... Q: Why did he divide this into so many posts?A: I am using the wireless internet at the airport, and for whatever reason it is capping the size of posts. If I have too much text the post just hangs when I submit it. So I had to do it a piece at a time. No post padding intended Q: What is the thing about blue pants?A: This is a bit of Olso cultural trivia. Red is the other color. Rep to whoever gives the first good explanation. Bill Quote
InfiniteNow Posted May 1, 2007 Report Posted May 1, 2007 Glad you had a good trip Bill. As much as you love Shannon and the kids, I imagine it was nice to get away and explore new contexts. Oddly enough, I spoke just today on the phone with Ptex. He had the nerve to call me during a meeting on planned March 2008 rollout strategy... Had to call the SOB back and burn my minutes. :) While there are a few folks here I wouldn't necessarily become close friends with, there are lots of great people posting regularly with whom I enjoy sharing my existence. Quote

Buffy Posted October 3, 2008 Report Posted October 3, 2008 Party on, dudes! That's totally awesome! You also need to go to a local Karaoke night and do your Wyld Stallyns impersonation! YouTube - Bill And Ted's Excellent Adventure Guitar Solo http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R1AEDwsoCx8 So now I have to travel back in time to help them out. If I should fail to keep these two on the correct path, the basis of our society will be in danger. Don't worry. It'll all make sense. I'm a professional. :hyper:Buffy S. Preston, Esq. Quote
Moontanman Posted October 4, 2008 Report Posted October 4, 2008 I enjoyed our Hypography meeting in the beautiful Martian city of Hyperion over looking the great Martian Rift Valley. The smoke from the oil well fires was blowing toward Olympus Mons that day and the view was clear, great day, great company. No! wait, I've just blown my cover, no one was supposed to know I am a time traveler :phones: What will I do now to heal the rift in space time I've just created? Quote

Maybe a checklist is better: Beer: Check.Picked up rental car: Check.Found 67 channels on the TV in my motel and nothing to watch. Check. It's a blast. :hihi: Quote
