inside the sun Posted February 28, 2006 Report Posted February 28, 2006 Since ethics/relgion are in philosophy i figured i could stick this here.My thought, theory, idea & Opinion:God cannot exist becuase it is an endless loophole the thought of there being a creator, because if god created us then who created god? To say we have a creator, and they created the world who created them and their world? And if no one did and they just simply exist, then why don't we simply, because they are god and we are not,,,:hyper: :hyper: :hyper: Quote
Boerseun Posted February 28, 2006 Report Posted February 28, 2006 Howzit. This thread belongs in the Religion forum. An old question, by the way - as old as the very first rabbi to deem an intact foreskin as inappropriate. Quote
rockytriton Posted March 1, 2006 Report Posted March 1, 2006 great, so what created all this mass that couldn't be created due to the laws of physics then? Quote
inside the sun Posted March 1, 2006 Author Report Posted March 1, 2006 we all want answers, religion and philosophy answers those questions that cannot be answered by science, at least not yet, maybe never? No one can tell us what happens when we die, or where we go.No one can tell us where we came from, why we are here, where all this **** came from etc..Religion gives answers, but just like philosophy or anything else these are educated guesses, assumptions, thoughts, theories and ideas, there is no facts with any of these answers. TheBigDog Posted March 1, 2006 Report Posted March 1, 2006 What is the problem with peaceful people believing in a religion? Is your misunderstanding of their belief enough to invalidate it? Love thy neighbor. Live and let live. Bill Quote
inside the sun Posted March 1, 2006 Author Report Posted March 1, 2006 there is no problem. i am sure there is no part in any of my words where i am saying that there is a problem, we need to change it, etc..I am just questioning, and thinking, since when is something of this caliber unhealthy, wrong, and not letting people live and let be. capnrefsmmat Posted March 1, 2006 Report Posted March 1, 2006 great, so what created all this mass that couldn't be created due to the laws of physics then?Laws of physics don't apply to the beginning of the universe. It's called a singularity--somewhere where the laws of physics break down. And yes, this is one of the fundamental questions in religion. Most religous people simply answer, "God has always existed." inside the sun Posted March 1, 2006 Author Report Posted March 1, 2006 And the most open minded, and "highest relgious leaders/whorshippers/followers/leaders" also admit that "no one can truly know whether or not god exists." Quote
capnrefsmmat Posted March 1, 2006 Report Posted March 1, 2006 That's quite true. However, we can use scientific reasoning to establish that God is an illogical concept. This does not rule out God if you are willing to believe that there are exceptions to scientific reasoning (singularities fit in--we simply haven't figured out laws of physics that will work there), but if you follow only logic, God just doesn't work. ughaibu Posted March 1, 2006 Report Posted March 1, 2006 The idea that the creator needed to be created depends on the assumption that god is subject to time rather than time being a creation of god. I liked the idea of a loop suggested in the first post; man is created by god and god is created by man. Quote
inside the sun Posted March 1, 2006 Author Report Posted March 1, 2006 bringing time into this manner, opens up too many damn doors, becuase i still don't know whether to believe in times existance, or what time really is Quote
Queso Posted March 1, 2006 Report Posted March 1, 2006 guess what sean,Time is a dimension.Humans perceive this dimension as LINEAR, aka a straight line. Past, present, future- In that order. It's a dimension though, emphasis on that!Meaning, that once you free yourself from your physical body, and exist just as an energy bodyyou can move freely within this dimensionjust like space.(This occurs when you duck down into your subconcious; Asleep. You can learn to control your motion thru this dimension through the art of lucid dreaming. Being aware while you are asleep, consious within. If you know this, you probably do this in your sleep and don't even know it) It blew my mind once I realized this. Boerseun 1 Quote
inside the sun Posted March 1, 2006 Author Report Posted March 1, 2006 i am writing stories in my mind when i am asleepI don't remember much from the one last night, but i do remember that this guy was going to be killed (i forget why, which is highly important), and the guy that was supposed to kill him loved his apple pies, so he told the guy to meet him at a certain place, and they faked his death, thats when it was time for me to get up and go to school Quote

It's not scientific reasoning that rules out any of this, but each of our own personal interpretations of the information we obtained through scientific reasoning. Big difference... Quote

Racoon Posted March 1, 2006 Report Posted March 1, 2006 Ok, just saw this lil' thread... God and "HIS" existence or lack of You imply immediately that god is a 'he' from ingrained pre-conceived notions You attach gender to quickly. God is 'IT' because you are still debating whether IT even exists I should have obivously read the earlier posts more closely.. God exists because there is TV, and he wants me to eat frozen dinners..
