I dislike "Big Country" music, or "Mainstream" country because it's inauthentic. The only difference between that and pop-music is the politics and the stylists.

Country music (not all, but a lot) sells itself not on it's musical merits but almost entirely on it's "I am just like you-ness" I like music that challenges me, tells me something I don't know.

So while I like Johnny Cash and Earl Scruggs, who tell interesting stories about flawed people, I hate "big country."

Plus, I think Cowboy Troy is a harbinger of the apocalypse.

Hank Williams is good stuff too! As for "New Country" 90% = blechch! Though I love

Alan Jackson, George Strait, Shooter Jennings, and Hank Williams III's music.

Dang it forgot why I was replying!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Real country music's demise was fortold on the CMA's a few tears ago when it was stated (by whom I can't remember) that "Nashville" was trying to get away from "folksy", "hillbilly" type music and move more towards mainstream music to attract younger listeners. In short ditch our heroes and our roots for the quick buck!!!!!!! More and more country music legends only matter for the easy buck that can be made on their deaths (Johny Cash for instance).

How many people out ther can honestly say they loved Johny Cash before the big deal made of him shortly before and after his death...apparently not many seeing as his label dropped him for lack of sales!!!!

Incedently am I the only person that is pissed at the half assed movie they made about him?!? Hell the actor doesen't even look or sound like him (and I have live at folsom prison on video and vinyl)

I also have a sizable stack vinyl : Highway men and Johny Cash albums along with Hank, Merle, David Allen Coe, Waylon, Willie, Hank jr, George Jones, Johny Paycheck, Lester Flatt&earl Scruggs, Norman Blake, The Dyllards, Grampa Jones, Billie Joe shaver etc. that I started building in '81.(and it's still growing)

Seriously you'd probably like David Allen Coe as well he has a similar sound to both Waylon and Merle (I highly recomend giving "long haired redneck", "you never even called me by my name" and "need a little time off for bad behavior" a listen.)

country.... i mean music can be allright, but the words ruin the experience completely.

oh and the first genre should really be changed to hip-hop from rap, there is no rap anymore, when you refer to that genre, you are really referring to people like Ice Cube, who plays in "Law and Order" now, albums like "Kid Sensation" (not by ice cube btw) were actually rap albums, if you are thinking 50 cent, 12 dicipulos, Tempo, Eminem or Detsl, you are really referring to hip-hop, which sort of evolved out of the rap culture, but is quite a different style of music.... thats all i wanted to say (not that i am an expert, hip-hop today is waay too similar, everyone says the same things... boring, but still it does not make it right to call it rap, some rap was actually good and took quite a bit more skill)

oh and there are many styles of techno, i think i should also point that out, and most are quite a bit different...

ghettotech, wonky techno, minimal techno, underworld techno, ambient techno, hardcore techno (with its variations), acid techno, tech house, orbital techno, speedcore, terrorcore, breakcore, digital hardcore, beat music.... there's more, just not off the top of my head.... not all of them are synthesized, not all of them are repetitive, not all of them include vynil scratching, not all of them follow 4/4 by 130-14 bpm beat, not all of them have real bass lines, not all of them are instrumental.... i mean there are different styles of techno, like if i said classical music, not everyone counts in contemporary classical music, and not everyone thinks, oh i heard Vanessa Mae, she has some crazy good pieces, classical isnt always boring and slow.... I mean generalisations can be good, but not always are the best way out....
